• Lovely hotel, great service, location is beautiful if a little inconvenient

  This is a very lovely hotel that used to be part of the Governor's mansion during Qingdao's German occupation. It retains a lot of the flavor from that era, and has one of the best views in the city. The location is so nice that while we were staying, they were shooting some sort of Korean-style drama show on-location, which we could see right from our balcony!
  
  The breakfast and restaurant are also great. Qingdao is somewhat famous for seafood, but we get a little queasy about the seafood on the streets especially with young children in tow. We finally ended up getting our fix of seafood at the hotel, making us wish we'd known about the dinner menu earlier!
  
  The building is old, and as such our first room had a bit of a plumbing problem that led to foul odor in the room. The staff was very good about helping us to move to another room even though they were quite full. Further, on our last day, despite having checked out at noon, they allowed us to "borrow" another room to clean up and shower off before our long train ride back to Shanghai in the evening!
  
  Though the location is beautiful, it isn't really in good walking distance of anything, and yet - the distance is just close enough that cab drivers don't want to get your cheap fare, so we had to often wait a long time to get cabs to get around. There is a bus stop nearby which was helpful to get to a few places.

  Found inside the grounds of the German Governor's Mansion this hotel has an enviable location. Our room had been recently redecorated and was of a good standard. Other parts of the hotel were still to catch up. The staff were excellent, very helpful and efficient. We booked this hotel for its location and connection to historical Qingdao. We were not disappointed.

• Nice place on top of a hill

  I did quite enjoy my stay over there. The location is good and close to the old town (The new district is a little further). The rooms are ok designed and you sleep on some good bedding too. Food is not too bad either. I definitely recommend to check out the nearby restaurant for dinner - Its really good?

  This was a lovely heritage hotel on top of the signal hill, right next to the Guest House Museum. We were lucky to be upgraded to a villa with two floors and two bed rooms, two bathroom. The villa room was big and facilities was up to my requirement. This was not a luxury and fancy castle hotel, as the main castle that was occupied by the original German Governor was now turned into a museum, and the block that we were staying was the quarter for the servants of the castle in the colonial days. So please don't mix up by the name of the hotel and expect that you could stay inside the main castle (which now is a museum). Having said that, it was still a nice hotel and can give you the atmosphere and feeling of living in the German colonial days. We love this hotel.
  The standard room that our other group mates stayed in was pretty standard and not big but still give you decent room decor, nice bed and clean bathroom.
  Breakfast was basic.
