A week in Nanjing
Harald O
May 6, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesMy wife and I had an enjoyable stay at this hotel.Service was always excellent. Our suite was clean and kept tidy during our stay.
Meals were to our satisfaction,. Breakfast offered a choice of Chinese or Western style. We found the Chinese restaurant on 7th floor very good,
One minus, bathroom floor of polished marble got very slippery when wet - be aware.
The service was always ecellent, the staff being most helpful.
The hotel reception could, however, not provide a useful map of Nanjing. The map supplies was unsuitable for navigation and in Chinese only. -
Ultra clean with quality furnishings, fittings and finish. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Very attentive service.

Melbourne, Australia | Apr 29, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI normally stay in the high end multinational hotel chains, so I was curious how this home grown Chinese hotel would compare. My room was outstanding, and among the best I've had in a five star hotel. I had one of their larger suites that had a super comfortable bed and a lounge room with a high quality Bose entertainment system and full size dining table for four. The bathroom was enormous and wall to wall marble. While the hotel has been operating for a while, the room looked like new. The quality of the finish on the extensive wood panelling and wooden furniture was as good as I've seen anywhere. The restaurant is led by international Chef and sous chef who were personable and well credentialed, They provided very good food and the service was friendly and adaptive. The neighbourhood is undergoing a recent transformation into a business center that is a little sterile compared to other parts in Nanjing, however, there are safe, upmarket and interesting bars and restaurants a short walk away. The only negatives were the painfully slow internet - although his was provided free - and the closure of the swimming pool for protracted maintenance. While I scored none of my familiar loyalty points for my stay, I enjoyed my week in this hotel with their friendly staff.

Amazing rooms

Apr 28, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessIt's a newish hotel and yet to find its rhythm but they are trying hard, however if you are looking for a suite at a normal hotel room rate this is the place for you. The king bed rooms are amazing, with separate lounge, bathroom and walk-in robe. The bar is stylish and small enough to that gives it an intimate feel with staff who are trying very hard and is worth having a drink in although prices are on the high side.

5 stars Chinese hotel
Alyzette
Shanghai | Feb 24, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesWe spent one night at HanYueLou, and were impressed by the quality of this hotel. Despite a few minor things, the overall experience was smooth, enjoyable and worth 5 stars.
The room we booked was on the 11th floor, and from there we could can enjoy the view. Not the most beautiful ever (workers units at the just at the feet of the building) but still quite impressive. The bed was really confortable, not too stiff, something I was worried about as it still a Chinese hotel.
We also enjoyed a few drinks at the hotel's bar. Aaron Chen, the barman, is passionated and dedicated about his work. The mojito they serve here is outstanding.
The breakfast was also a highlight, with an impressive and tasty buffet of Chinese and Western food.
A few minor remarks :
The location is not the most convenient of all if you aim to visit Nanjing, as the closest subway station is about 10-15 minutes away.
The staff also looked not completely fluent in English, especially in the swimming pool/spa area
The breakfast area was really noisy
Overall it is was a pleasant stay, in a 5 stars, yes, but a Chinese 5 stars. Due to the really sophisticated decoration and some other details, I did not feel like in an international hotel. So if you are looking for a Chinese luxury hotel experience in Nanjing, HanYueLou would definitely be a great choice.
