Beautiful grounds and lobby but the rest needs serious updating
smclain4jc
Massillon, Ohio | Jun 3, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThis hotel was no doubt a fantastic place in it's heyday when it was built. The grounds are very nice with walking paths and nice area's to relax by ponds, waterfalls or the river. Unfortunately the property is in need of serious upkeep and remodeling. The rooms were spacious but my carpet was heavily stained and looked to have been done in the 60's or 70's with very old furniture and look/feel. If you go anytime before June, don't expect to have air conditioning and even with the sliding glass door open, the room was suffocatingly hot.
They had a large outdoor pool but it looked like it had not been used in quite awhile and the grounds while pretty again needed basic maintenance and painting. If you are on a budget this place is ok, but if not stay at a Western Hotel -
Nice property convenient to southern Nanjing
bpritts
Ann Arbor,Michigan USA | Jul 21, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI have stayed here several times, most recently July 2014. The property is one of the Jinling chain; Jinling has a number of properties around this region of China.
It's quite convenient to southern Nanjing, including the main railway station Nanjing South, about a 15 minute cab ride.
Service with house and restaurant staff is good with occasional limitations of English ability. Breakfast was excellent with both Western and Chinese offerings on the buffet.
Decor is a little dated, as noted by some other reviewers; but everything worked. Outdoor garden is charming, with ponds and tropical plants.
A lake is nearby if you want a quiet place to walk.
For a bit of culture change, try the Japanese rooms: these feature hardwood floors and tatami/futon beds on the floor. They are also cheaper!
Comments by other reviewers regarding relatively few things to do are correct; this appears to be an everyday residential/ commercial neighborhood. There are several good everyday Chinese restaurants on the main street, a 2 block walk.
Also convenient - about 10 minutes walk to the subway station which will take you downtown in 30 minutes (fast, though quite crowded in rush hour!)
All in all, this is a good pick if you are working in the JiangNing industrial region in southern Nanjing, or using the South Railway Station. -
Very nice for the price

Yiwu, China | Feb 5, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyThis is a nice hotel with a good breakfast for china. It has a beautiful center area with Chinese style architecture with carp pounds surrounding the walk way. The only problem with this hotel is it's out of the way. There are no close restaurants or stores so you have to take a taxi everywhere. Also it is confusing for the taxi drivers some times I noticed they got lost and I had to direct them there.

Beautiful grounds, average hotel
327Aries
Dec 10, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThis hotel was just average in general, the rooms were a bit old yet large and clean, the inside of the hotel also seemed a bit old. The walk from the lobby to the rooms in the back was somewhat long and in some parts, open, thus cold on a winter day. The surprising part is that I couldn't see an elevator, so I, along with other clients had to carry our luggage to the second floor, then walk some more to the rooms. Breakfast was average and the breakfast area smelled of food to the extent that I could smell food on me for some time after breakfast, which was annoying. The grounds of the property are beautiful, with ponds, rock gardens and wooden walkways, it felt like being in a secluded area right in the middle of the city. The nice surprise, is that, like many other western hotels in China (even though this is NOT a western hotel), the power outlets were ready for US based power cords. Internet was available with a strong signal throughout the hotel. It was fine for one night, especially if you don't need a drink at the hotel bar, I didn't see a bar or a lounge area at the hotel.

Above Average for a Westerner staying in a Chinese Run Hotel

Sheboygan Falls WI | Sep 14, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThe availability of western breakfast food is good for a Chinese hotel. The rooms are fine, I'm in one of the Japanese style rooms. It is out of the central district so if I had to rely upon taxi's I would be worried. Room service food is fine. The lobby bar is one in name only, I asked for a drink off the menu which resulted in about twenty minutes of watching them bring in bottles from a side room trying to figure out what they were.
Housekeeping was above my experience for China, my daily consumption of a bottle of diet Coke and two packets of coffee were replaced perfectly every day.
If you are a frequent business traveller to China this is a fine choice. If you are travelling here for the first time you might want to pay more.
