• Well located for centre of town

  Well positioned hotel with easy access by the underground to the main train station. The hotel was very clean and staff were friendly. A lot of Chinese staying there, which is always a good sign. The breakfast was adequate. Plenty of shops and supermarkets nearby. If you are after a coffee, I would give the adjacent Starbucks a miss and go round the corner to the "Freeland" café, with its excellent drinks, food and service.

  An excellent hotel for getting around and seeing Nanjing. The hotel is situated right next to a major subway station which allows access to city. Surrounded by shops, coffee places, restaurants, it is in an ideal location. Not far from the train station either. Room was comfy, clean and had all the proper amenities. The toilet did become blocked (which is really not uncommon in China), but the hotel was excellent in getting the maintenance man up within 5 mins of us notifying them and the problem was sorted within another 5 mins. Excellent service. A good, cheap hotel that was a very pleasant stay,

  very nice hotel in the city center.
  very clean , big comfortable rooms, very good breakfast, Tasty and with big choice....
  the people WHO are working here are very helpful,kind and with a smile always, and they speak english, something which is not easy to find in nanjing!!!
  the hotel is between the 2 main Metro Lines of nanjing, you can reach both by walk very easy.
  from Eastern pearl hotel you can visit all the main attractions of nanjing very easy and very fast,very close to presidential palace, you can go there by walk in 5 minutes, ,xuanwu lake by walk too.
  the hotel is close to many restaurants, and starbucks too, but i recomend to try eat from the small places traditional dumplings, the best ever i have try and really Cheap.
  also i recomended to visit and try everything from the bakery 85,very good bakery maybe one of the best from around the World....
  for sure when i will visit nanjing again i will stay in this hotel

• Cluttered hotel room

  The room I stayed in was cluttered with an unnecessary desk and chair near the window and an armchair. I stayed two nights early in May and this is what I remember the most. I think the staff here try harder than many Chinese hotels. The buffet breakfast for about 48 RMB was pretty good.The bar-nightclub-restaurant 1912 district is just round the corner and it is an easy and pleasant walk along Zhujiang Rd to get into the heart of Nanjing. The hotel had a couple of newish bikes for hire at low cost. Only trouble was it wanted a ridiculously high desposit to hire one.

  Spend enough time in China, and you will realize how this hotel is a total gem. The price is unbeatable, the rooms are clean, the cleaning staff is very hardworking. We have stayed here for years. There is also a new subway line opening up just steps from the hotel in August 2014 which will be AMAZING!!
  Rooms: Clean, large, with a selection of pillows and blankets. Turn-down service with snacks and a daily weather update. Bed is hard (it's China). Robes, slippers, a working refrigerator. Lots of lighting options. Cable TV. Wireless internet in each room. Large shower with plentiful hot water, and no temperature fluctuations. Great lighting. No bad smells throughout the hotel.
  Staff: All were friendly to us (I speak Chinese, so maybe that's a plus). The cleaning people were SO hard working, extremely attentive and friendly (just say nihao and their faces will light up). Rare service in China.
  Amenities: You can borrow many things, including large umbrellas. Each room has a cup with pens, pencils, rulers. Very charming! The workout room leaves something to be desired but clean. If you want a massage, go to the place in 1912. Hotel prices are always $$$.
  Food: I'm a cheapo, so I thought the breakfast buffet was sort of spendy, but it was good enough. Dad was paying, so hey, can't complain! There is a Suguo community market right behind the hotel, perfect for water and snacks. Close walk to the 1912, where you can get your foreign food fix. (DO NOT GET KOREAN FOOD in 1912, though, stay away!)
  Tips: There is a self-service laundry room you can use for free. Dial 550. The washer can be a challenge if you don't read Chinese. The dryer is pretty much useless.
  You can pay your deposit with a foreign credit card, not cash, which is nice.
  HOT TIP: In August 2014, a new subway line will open up RIGHT NEXT TO THE HOTEL! The staff has informed me that a price increase will likely happen.
