Aug 15, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyNice hotel with very friendly English speaking staff.
Rooms are clean, breakfast good and location are great, right in the old town of Lijiang

Great location and building, okay rooms...

Midhurst, United Kingdom | Aug 8, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelAfter ten days in Yunnan, I had just one night in Lijiang and was a little disappointed by this hotel. In terms of location - right at the top of the old town - it can't be faulted. Great views over the rooftops from the rooms on the second floor. The building is a treat with fishponds and views and lots of seating. Service is okay, although it was difficult to get guidance or recommendations on the area immediately around the hotel. Perhaps I have been spoiled by the other hotels I visited in Yunnan but I thought the rooms were ordinary, motel style. Clean linen, decent bed but no drinking water, no tea or coffee (a kettle but nothing more) and most importantly, not much character. Breakfast was just about okay - hard boiled eggs, toast, rice porridge - but it was a bit disappointing not to have some cooked to order options. All of this is fine of course if the hotel is just somewhere to flop at the end of a hard day's exploring and fighting your way through the crowds in the old city; if that's all that you're after then there are probably cheaper options.

The staff take this lovely hotel to a whole new level

Apr 30, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayThis lovely little hotel has nice beds, crisp linen, clean bathrooms, lots of hot gushing water and a great ambience. And the staff are exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble - they were happy to book onward travel and more accommodation and they were exceptionally attentive toward my elderly travelling companion. Every staff member was charming and made our stay thoroughly enjoyable.

Ann Arbor, MI | Apr 19, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyWe stayed 3 nights. Upon arrival, you are greeted, served tea, and some light snacks in a well decorated room. The grounds is like a zen garden with fish ponds and multi-floors. The rooms were not large but clean and comfortable. The location over looks the old city and 5 min walk to the heart of town. The service all around was just great and they seem to cater to westerners. A few of the staff speak light English. The two draw backs was being so close to old town bar street, the karaoke noise goes until 11:30pm. Also the breakfast options were a little light, wish they offered more variety.

Wonderful, old-world feel and great service at this hotel.

Apr 18, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyRecently spent three nights here (4/4/15-4/6/15) with my wife, daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter (age 1) and had a wonderful time. Situated in the old city of Lijiang, ZGH is small, rustic, and comfortable. The old city is very tight quarters for all the businesses and resident and the narrow streets can be loud and clogged with visitors. The ZGH feels like a BNB retreat from the bustle outside its walls. ZGH rooms are simple, on the small side (like much of China's non-western accommodations), but adequately furnished, and clean. What stands out is there service and personalized attention. Mu Li (I think she is the manager) was very helpful with answering our questions and getting transportation arranged as needed to the many great sites around Lijiang. Staff member, Yang Zhi Mei, was the kindest, most attentive we have ever met. Both Ms. Mu and Ms. Yang speak passable English and will patiently communicate with you until whatever needs, issues, questions, etc., are addressed.
ZGH serves a nice continental breakfast each morning - fruit, rice porridge, eggs (upon request), tea, coffee, and other items. They serve afternoon tea with other treats each day, a welcomed feature for us!
