• Ok hotel, bad location

  This is a decent hotel - nothing fancy, but also nothing to complain about. Rooms a functional and clean, breakfast is ok, gym is large and well equipped. But be aware that this hotel is located in "New Kunming", which is a completely new city pretty much still in the making, there is absolutely nothing to see and to do here, no shops, only one restaurant (just outside, quite good). The drive to the center of Kunming takes at least 45 minutes and in the evening when there are a lot of trucks on the road well over one hour.

  What everyone said about the hotel's air-conditioning is true. It's useless calling room service as all they do is to come in and turn the thermostat to 16C. Spent 3 nights in April with warm and stale air. Fortunately, my wife was smart enough to insist in having a standing fan in the room. It was just bearable with the window opened and the fan circulating the air. Bear in mind, the outside temperature was averaging 20C but the room was averaging 28C!
  The temperature must be centrally controlled as after much complain from us and other guest, the air conditioning starts to work!
  Hotel is also far away from everywhere - no shops, no restaurant. Basically, a nice hotel in the middle of a new district with hardly any facilities. To be fair, you can find one restaurant in the hotel and one outside. Wifi is only available in the lobby. They have limited wifi routers for room.

  New and Grand Property but far away from the City. I have invited there with my family for dinner. Very large Buffet dinner and separate corner for Yunnan Specialty Rice noodles. Overall good place but far away from the city centre. Also, you can go to the Kunming's wholesale market (Losiwan LITC) from this hotel. If you are planing to go to LITC for shopping, better take a Chinese interpreter.

  This hotel is located in the outskirts of Kunming, about 45 minutes by car from the Kunming airport or 30 minutes from the city centre. My hubby and I stayed 2 nights at this hotel for our Yunnan and Shangrila tours the following morning. Hotel foyer is massive with separate children play area section close to the restaurant and some retail stores within the hotel (which sell some instant noodles) as there’re no convenient stores or restaurants near the hotels. The hotel restaurant has room service menu from which we ordered the Yunnan noodle soup & chicken burger for our first night dinner.
  Hotel room was clean and quite comfy but aircond seemed to be centrally controlled in the high 20C. Many new buildings are being constructed near this hotel which is surrounded by completed hotels which are well lit at night.
  A buffet breakfast was included in our 2 nights stay and front desk staff was helpful and offered prompt service so overall the stay was pleasant.

  It is a good hotel hotel meets international standard although its location is about half an hour away from Kunming city centre. Room is spacious and comfortable. However, aircon is an issue but not sure if this is apolicy or norm for the hotels in Yunnan. Believe there is a pre-set room temperature which is very warm for visitor from other parts of the world who is so used to aircon. For reason unknown, the aircon was even worse in the middle of the night and was waken up. The whole family did not have a reasonable sleep which is the negative part of the hotel. Breakfast is good too though it cannot be compared with other international hotels in Shanghai and Beijing.
