• A Wonderful Hotel

  Stayed at this hotel in June, 2015 in a river view suite which was magnificently appointed. The view of the water from its extremely large balcony festooned with flowers was second to none. The living room was extremely large as was the bedroom. The bed was much too hard for my taste but this is quite common in China. The bathroom was just lovely. The hotel is very modern. The only problem with this hotel is that this is a convention type hotel and the Chinese are inveterate smokers so the hallways reeked of cigarette smoke and the room itself, despite attempts at freshening it, still had the aroma of cigarette smoke. That being said, I will stay here again when I return to Kaifeng next year.

  I stayed in the New Century Grand Hotel Kaifeng for 2 days in March. It was a low season for tourism in Kaifeng, and the hotel was not fully occupied. Nevertheless, my stay there was very pleasant. The staff were nice and helpful. The hotel itself and the hotel rooms are big and spacious. I was particularly impressed by the high ceiling in the hotel room. The hotel room was clean and well equipped. The only negative comment is that guests have to call the hotel mainline to get your wifi password and username. The password and username could not be informed during hotel check in or found in the hotel room.
  It was a combined business/sight-seeing trip and I didn't spend too much time in the hotel itself. I ate 1 breakfast there and the food was good and the selection was wide. The hotel was conveniently located and it didn't take too long to the nearby tourist spots.

  Came here with the China work team for a conference.
  Location was great, close enough to the city centre and "attractions" but just off the road so my room was very quiet.
  Hotel itself was clean, carpets, linen, towels etc and well maintained.
  Bed was firm but good (for China).
  Western breakfast restaurant was OK, reasonable buffet selection and good coffee. Chinese breakfast restaurant was awful, very limited food selection with no juice or coffee.
  I went in October and found the A/C struggled to cool the room.
  My standard complaint is (as in virtually all Chinese hotels) there is a complete non adherence to the non-smoking policy and signs everywhere in the rooms and hotel. This hotel would benefit from enforcing non-smoking in non-smoking rooms and in the reataurants.

  This is a very beautiful hotel overlooking a lake. Very scenic. In rural China it is very difficult to get a nonsmoking room. If you are a non smoker be prepared to have a lot of smokers around you. This is very common in rural China. Thankfully between our guide and friends who are fluent in Mandarin we were traveling with we received a non-smoking room. Beautiful room, nice comfortable beds. Staying in rural China you usually either get a hard mattress or a hard pillow or both.

  I was booked into the New Century Grand Hotel so that I could attend a conference in Kaifeng.
  I stayed here 4 years ago and was extremely impressed. The food was nice, the rooms exquisite and the service of the highest standard.
  This time I was also impressed with the hotel, food, service etc... The staff are always extremely polite and helpful beyond belief.
  My only qualm with the hotel is that the leisure facilities are beginning to look tired and in need of renovation. Also, the cost of the massages and treatments have risen beyond belief - a full 90 minute massage should never cost over 0ver 500 yuan in Chinese hotel. This is extortionate and far from acceptable.
