I will be arriving earlier/later than the stated check-in time. Can I still check in?

Usually this is not a problem; you can arrange for an after-hours check-in with most hotels. However, you should always confirm with the hotel. You can use the "Special Requests" box in the booking process to inform them of your estimated arrival time in writing. It's important to remember that the property can't always accommodate these requests. It's always best to check with the property directly and in advance to avoid confusion. You can contact the hotel directly by calling them, the local telephone number you can get from Nehow's Local Guide after you finish the booking.

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

A late check-out can only be arranged with the hotel and usually depends on availability at the time of your stay. You can ask about the possibility at the front desk upon arrival.

  • Large room. Great indoor pool selection.

There are so many wonderful product offerings in this area that it's difficult to choose. Banyan tree differentiated itself with the size of their room and their indoor pool.
We come in and its looks like a village just like the one in Yangshuo but this one has a beautiful lake and pagoda inside. The room is very nice and big - we could fit all 5 of us inside (with my kids). It's like a bedroom and a living room and very spacious bathroom. It's wonderful (& much better than banyan tree Yangshuo which was much smaller). Small things could be improved upon - the placing of lights was not well done (eg master switch off is not at door) and the wireless was spotty and slow at times.
Service - when we arrived we were ready to write it off - no one around and we had to carry our own luggage, only half of us were given welcome drinks only. Our rooms were not ready ( in the afternoon). But the receptionist was so good, gave us the map, showed us around and waited us at the door for our car - so he really tried to make up for it. There were numerous other instances that service staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome - or rather it was the one male receptionist that was very good.
If you want children's activities - can take a buggy and go to Angsana hotel right next door. It's also possible to take the buggy to the nearby museum. Wonderful!!!
Food was the one sore point - ie they had the exact same breakfast every day so it would get a bit boring. Do not eat here but go out to eat in one of the nearby restaurants - and they will even get the buggy to send you
Indoor pool was Great specially with the weather but it only opened at 10am - 10pm so no morning swim. The pool was warm/a bit cold but the jacuzzi was very nice and warm. However not all the jacuzzi sprouts were working and some of their switches were all in the wrong place - no attention to detail. But it was wonderful to come after a long day of sightseeing to this mini-spa.

Ningbo, China | Jul 7, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getaway

It did not feel like a five stars resort hotel. Location is not convenient unless you just want to visit the Xixi national wetland park. Took us one hour on the traffic from Hefeng street. It also feels very humid inside. The room is huge with lots space. You might have some mosquito visitors during the summer. And breakfast also not very tasty. Too many people and the food area is messy. Some people even smoke while others are having breakfast. Not recommended.

For our company of five (grandparents, parents, (grand)son) we booked a private two bedroom villa. We were not disappointed, really beautiful. Excellent service and friendly English speaking staff.
The hotel is situated in the Wetlands outside Hangzhou, very quit. Lot of facilities like swimming pool, fitness centre, bar and restaurants. The Xixi National Wetland Park & Museum is on walking distance; nice for kids too.
Nice breakfast and dining experience. Thank you Ketty for our utmost pleasant stay!

  • Lovely scenic villas, great service + potential for greater excellence

We booked the two bedroom villa over 3 nights in June to experience scenic Hangzhou. This was the 2nd Banyan Tree property we have stayed in.
The resort was right by the Xixi Wetlands Park which the hotel booked for us. You have to visit this park to be taken back in time immersed in much preserved nature.
Usual to Banyan Tree properties, the entrance was always a delight and true to the beauty & culture of the region. The resort is a real serene and peaceful scene with native plants adorning the surrounding villas, winding waterways, and cute stone bridges. Frequent chirping birds really add to the atmosphere.
There seems to be some room arrangement issues in general, somehow I think they need to manage their timing for room check in and out (we arrived at 3pm, only to be able to enter our villa at 420pm), as well as, in line with known noisy events right in front of your villa balcony. They had offered to move us to another two bedder villa but they weren't unable to move us the night before, the next villa would only be available the next day, but I hardly think it is worth our little time in Hangzhou to move in and out of villas. We would rather be exploring more of the lake and wetlands, but I would like to applaud their efforts to try make it up to us.
The jacuzzi in our villa was a lovely addition albeit being tiny, and the jets could work longer than 30 seconds before you have to go press it again. As well as having one more light working in the jacuzzi would be nice.
The main room was a beauty with high decorated walls, traditional furnishing with a modern touch and a tea set with 3 different tea leaves to try every day.
The balcony was a beautiful spot to immerse in scenery and chirping birds, some even trying to nest.
The second bedroom was slightly worse, harder beds and less natural lighting.
Overall the villa was pretty but could have better upkeep.
Resort faclities like the pool at the spa was terribly maintained with dirty sky roofing and broken lights.
Banyan Tree spa was quite good, the ambiece and room was excellent but the massage was slightly worse (but five star for service & smiles) than the one at Bintan, four of us lamented that it was all abit soft, think one of them was a trainee.
Service was excellent throughout, staff were all friendly. From bell boys, to housekeeping to room service to waitors at breakfast (especially Patrick who was really proactive in his service standards, just one out of many examples e.g. I would take a yoghurt, forget the spoon, and not even realize until he brings over a spoon from the buffet area)
Overall, the resort and the villas are beautiful with potential of improvements on the upkeep and maintenance arena.
Service was excellent apart from only a handful having good command of English and kept resorting to speaking Chinese to our substandard command of chinese with Singaporean accents, and my European husband left clueless alot. I had to keep reminding them to speak in english, which everyone tried but I got frustrated trying, so I just resorted to speaking Chinese so they can understand our needs better. E.g. we got a call from the room to do turndown service for us, my husband understood their English to accept the service with "okay" but was misinterpreted so we didn't get turndown service for that one night and were missing pool towels too.
P.s. if you want bath salt refilled leave the cap open!
P.p.s. It was nice that I get a new set of disposable toileteries daily, but I would have wished to use up my half used items too in addition to new set of items.
For nearly US $1000 a night, we would expect perfection to the intricate of details, so I would be one star harsh of what would have been a 4-stars rating.
I would still book this hotel again.

Singapore, Singapore | Apr 23, 2025 | Trip type: Couples

This resort was the feast for the eyes. I loved that they did the resort in Jiang Nan architecture, and the buildings and the gardens and landscaping with the bridges and the water and the weeping willows all made for a lovely vista everywhere you walked in the resort. The decor in the rooms and the public spaces were equally coherent and lovely. Thoughtful touches included the Chinese tea set in the room with the famous Long Jing tea as well as the delicious goodies that arrive with the turn down service. Service was excellent - from Nick at the front desk who paid for our train tickets back to Shanghai out of his own pocket first, to Yoyo, the very attentive waitress who served us every morning at breakfast. If there was anything to complain about, it would be that the pool was a bit small and very cold - indoor pools should be heated as they don't get the warmth of the sun at all.
