I will be arriving earlier/later than the stated check-in time. Can I still check in?

Usually this is not a problem; you can arrange for an after-hours check-in with most hotels. However, you should always confirm with the hotel. You can use the "Special Requests" box in the booking process to inform them of your estimated arrival time in writing. It's important to remember that the property can't always accommodate these requests. It's always best to check with the property directly and in advance to avoid confusion. You can contact the hotel directly by calling them, the local telephone number you can get from Nehow's Local Guide after you finish the booking.

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

A late check-out can only be arranged with the hotel and usually depends on availability at the time of your stay. You can ask about the possibility at the front desk upon arrival.

  • Really Great Service, good food, good value

Haikou, China | Sep 7, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getaway

We bought a dinner buffet couon on meituan (Kind of chinese groupon) and had the buffet dinner for 158 rmb. All the staff was so nice, and gave us gerat Service, they asked you if you would like to have salmon sashimi, or anything from the BBQ or a fresh beer jug, and they would all bring is to you, they asked you severyl time if everything is fine. Is not the normal rotineservice you get in chains like Hyatt, Sheraton etc. It came fromthe heart nd was always a bit more. This was a great surprise. The food was nice, the BBQ meet couldbe better, the rest was all good. The sashimi was great. The Location, right at the Bach with live Music and entertaiment made up a great enviroment. After dinner we had a nice swim for two hours and went to the hotsprings. I would defenetly go there again.

Stayed over here for two nights. Slightly far away from the main city. On the main sea road.
Service wise this was an excellent hotel. No faults at all. Liked the open air feel to the hotel.
Rooms itself had all facilities. Not sure about the open space bathroom idea though. I personally prefer a bathroom with just normal doors. The bath is an open space with a curtain dividing it between the room and the bath area. But on the whole the room was very good with all the usual mod cons and facilities. Breakfast spread like any other good Chinese hotel was excellent. You would be spoilt for choice. Service wise they even managed to get us an iPhone charger at 1:00 am mid night. Top notch always willing to help. It has a couple of great swimming pools which are very well maintained. Just a hop away is the beach. Lots of beach activities through the day. Even had an indoor Movie Hall for its guests that play a mixture of English and Chinese movie On the whole had an excellent stay at the HNA beach resort and can gladly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay at Haikou.

  • Good choice in haikou

This hotel was nice and clean, big rooms comfortably furnished in Chinese style. Staff was pleasant and even English speaking. Only the breakfast was a bit disappointing as it was too crowded and the waiters didn't make an effort to accommodate. Would choose this hotel again if I came back to haikou.

This was the premier hotel around 20 years ago but it is showing its age. It is next to the beach is is entirely forgetable. Forget about this hotel if you do not read chinese. The rooms' beds are the old style hard chinese style. Restaurants are no more than adequate. It desparately needs a total refurbisgment preferably by someone like Banyan etc.

We arrived here at gone midnight, the booking slip had only the English address on, which of course a Chinese taxi driver had no understanding of. We had to use our phone (make the international call) to the hotel who took a lot of time fussing around because they were all unable to speak English. There is no problem with this but I developed a frustration in my stay of staffs seemingly poor efforts made at communications, I was using my Chinese as much as I could and even then they would dismiss the possibility of being able to understand me, simply because I am foreign - this was my feeling anyway. We checked in and our mum has booked it for us, we were here really under the impression it could be a reality key cost free, relaxing, poolside week. The staff took forever checking us in and we had been travelling all day, they asked us multiple times if we checked in though they were in possession of our very own booking confirmation. Then we were charged a 4000 rmb deposit for goodness knows what. Once we got to our room there was a distinct cat smell pee, which did disappear by day three maybe. The room was nice, but not special in the slightest. Not sure what the 5* is about. We were staying in the business suite. The lamp was stained with watermarks and there were a few bits in the room looking a bit worse for wear. I feel two ways about the hotel, maybe if it were more of a budget costing hotel that was of 3* rating I would have been over the moon, the fact that it's extremely costly for China pricing (even by European standards) and of a high rating, I expected so much more. The in complex food shop was rubbish, selling few, expensive things all by unknown brands. There are two restaurants, a western and a Chinese one. We ate at both or at least one most days and though quite pricy we did enjoy the food,so credit to the there, they have a good chef at least. The bar however was not on par with the restaurants so we avoided that one. We were disappointed that the hotel gave us nothing and offered us nothing in terms of advice on Haikou and how to get around and where to go, there was little service in this aspect. Taxis it seems were all on a flat rate of charging tourists 60rmb and would not use the meter ever. Unfortunately, the general reception of us here was poor, quite different from many of the other places I have traveled within China. Maybe they are less experienced with foreign guests. Room service came in every day which we took comfort in, at least there was something 5* about the place, well, only to realise we had been charged 140rmb each time they came in. This was a very disheartening blow at the end of stay. In terms of facilities there is a reasonably nice pool which comes to life in the evening. There are floats and things on offer for an hourly rental rate that's probably higher than the things cost in the first place and there is a nice hot spring. There a beach with lovely signs all along saying quite sternly that swimming is not permitted and there is a gym that looks like something from before my time. We concluded this place must have been state of the art maybe 20 years ago but now it's failing to keep up with the times yet,it seems, gladly keeping those prices up! I would prefer to have stayed in a cheap hostel with a mixed dorm where the staff are lovely and helpful, the prices are reasonable and you can at least feel welcome and comfortable rather than something like this. The silver lining is that every experience draws a lesson, that lesson here is that Haikou is not a no.1 tourist destination and that is for a good reason.
