• Room is noisy but overall okay

  Receptionist checked me in with a pleasant smile and friendly but may be she was all alone by herself at the reception and was busy so the room she assigned me was a little noisy (think its from the air-con vent). But overall, she is pleasant.
  Next day breakfast at the cafe, eggs was terrible cooked, service is okay, the assistant manager (quite mature looking) was very nice to stand by at my table looking after my bag while I was getting my food, she was very helpful and seems that she must be quite experienced there, when I walked passed the coffee station, I was immediately being asked if I wanted a cup of coffee. Good!
  Overall the hotel is old and due to heavy raining, water was leaking everywhere in the hotel...ha ha time for a major renovation please!
  One must invest in order to get more return especially when things get old!

• An oasis of relaxation and luxury

  I landed in Haikou after a 28 hr. flight on Sep 7th, and it was so hot and humid. The first thing that please me the most when I arrived at the Sheraton resort is the cool, calm and relaxed atmosphere of the resort. Check-in was fast with pleasant staff, and my room was on the 4th floor facing the Ocean. I have the chance to take a walking tour of the place early next morning, and it has one of the nicest design arrangement of the garden that I can only compare with the same type of resort livings in the Caribbean and Hawaii we spent our holidays before. The outdoor pool as well as the beach are open for swimming.
  The quality of the morning buffet breakfast is excellent, and the service warmed with the smile of the young staff. The room set-up is modern, and inviting. It is a bit far away from local cities, but the taxi service is excellent, very reasonable and quite inexpensive versus our Canadian standards.
  Sheraton Haikou brings out the best of Hainan Hospitality and Charm.

  As we are in Hainan/China, we have to recognize that weather conditions have a lot of influence of visiting Haikou and the hotel area. If there is raining time, the huminity in all areas could be very high. The Lobby is an open area with ventilators at the ceiling.
  The Hotel is comfortable. I stayed there businesswise for two years and the service was good, staff very friendly and the rooms comfortable enough to survive hot sun, high huminity and rainy seasons. The location is subtropical.
  The rooms are fine, the Restaurants good. Breakfast better than dinner. The pool (see photo) is fine, the beach could be better.

• A great place to disconnect

  If your looking for a great place to relax, forget about all our electronic gadetry, and just enjoy the hot sun the Sheraton Haikou Resort may be the place for you. This facility has everything you need from great food, a fantastic pool, and a beach (unfortunately the water is not all that great but I think that is beyond Sheraton's control).
  The Service by the hotel staff was fantastic, especially in Breeze the main restaurant. Food was a variety that changed every night, The staff very attentive to every need. And the best thing, is the staff smiled, making that extra difference. It was very nice to see a manager pay such close attention to detail, by showing a waitress how to place silverware into the folded linen napkins. Taking that extra effort, I wish I had gotten their names but they all were really very good.
  And I also must mention the Seaview Lounge, most excellent ! The view is unforgettable, and again the staff made the difference, making this Lounge a step above the rest! Sheraton should be very proud to have such outstanding workers as Emily and Arrow (or Erin) working for them
  And again, it was the workers paying attention to details and the little things that made the difference, How often do you see a General Manager such as Mr. Jeremy Ho taking time to ask a guest simply sitting enjoying the view, if I had needed anything !
  All really very good, But to be fair I must add a few negatives,
  First, This facility is about 10 years old, and is in good shape,but in someways it is starting to show its age. Time for Sheraton to start thinking about a new paint for the outside, and maybe some new rugs in the hall, the hotel is in a very moist, damp location.
  Secondly, and I'm not sure if this is a China thing, a Sheraton thing, or what, but I have been an International traveler for the past 25 years or so and this is the very first time that when trying to convert US Currency to the Chinese Yuan, the folks at the front desk of the hotel told me they would not accept my older US Twenty Dollar bills! They said they were either too old, it appears they wanted only new style bills, or the bills had small tears in them, so they said they were unacceptable! So I guess the bottom line, if you coming here, not sure if it is all of China, bring only new style US currency!
  Overall, a great stay, (20 days!), Great hotel, Outstanding staff!!!! Can't go wrong with workers that smile!

  This was my second visit to Sheraton Resort in Haikou, my first visit was in May 2013. The check in was very fast, and efficient, as I went to the room the temperature in the room was very comfortable. Balcony was spacious I could hear birds singing. Magnificent view from the bar to the sea, after dawn many mosquito are around, before I could ask for replicant bar staff passed on a spray which was ver efficient. The food quality is stunning, breakfast buffet is nothing missing, dinner buffet is the same so much variety you can juice from. Most of staffs speak a good english. I look forward for my next holiday already to stay at Sheraton in Haikou
