Great location but not too western family friendly
anafonitria
Shanghai | Oct 6, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyStayed here for 1 night with family to see the rice terraces. The hotel is on the edge of the village half way up the mountain. A taxi can not drop you off there and you have to walk 30 minutes up or 1 hour down from the car park to get there. We hired sherpa's to carry our bags! Amazing location with great views of the terraces. Slightly noisy as in the middle of the village but ok. Most staff speak limited English but did try to help. Our room was supposed to have a balcony but instead had more of an open patio at the front door to the room. The only window the rom had was a very small one over looking a path. The room has no wardrobe and very little space for suitcases. Breakfast was ok. Westernish! An enjoyable stay. Wish I had done more research into the location of the room but enjoyed the walk in the end! Cleanut not too welcoming environment. Not sure I would stay here again or recommend to western families. Also very expensive for the room you get.

No English, no wifi, no pay by credit!

Bunbury, Australia | Sep 13, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesWe found it difficult not being able to communicate, we had to leave early in the morning and would have liked breakfast before we left, we would have liked to have paid by credit card as we were spending a few days in this area and there are no banks, we would have liked wifi but it didn't happen. Room was fine, clean and comfortable with a good view, service suffered as we just couldn't get through to the guy on the desk, this was the most expensive hotel we stayed at on our walk from Ping'an to Dazhai. Maybe we didn't have the free complimentary breakfast because the guy on the desk just couldn't tell us we were entitled to it?

Beautiful view of the rice terraces and Ping'An village.

May 16, 2025We stayed here for one night when we first arrived in Ping'An. Although the hotel staff spoke no English, we had an enjoyable stay. Our view of the terraces was beautiful as the guest house is located near the top of the village, and our room was comfortable with two twin beds and a/c. The free complementary breakfast was also good, but we automatically received the 'western' breakfast (two eggs, toast, sausage) and I would have rather had the 'Chinese' breakfast not offered to us. The guest house is also close to the '7 Stars with Moon' viewpoint and to the hiking trail that leads through the terraces. We booked online through C-trip and had no problems with our reservation. Overall we had a great stay and enjoyed our time at Leader guest house. Recommended.
