• Failed to live up to first impressions

  On first impression this hotel seemed fine. Received a warm welcome and check in process was smooth. Got allocated an apartment rather than a room which was very spacious and had a small kitchenette.
  Free wifi is also available for use which is a bonus.
  However, I just didn't feel like the hotel was clean enough or up to the standard of similar hotels I have stayed in.
  One morning at breakfast the air vent above our table started dripping water, this concerned me as I thought it may be water from the air conditioning unit.
  Breakfast does not cater for western tastes but to be fair this does not seem to be a hotel that is used by westerners.
  The hotel is far from any attractions.
  Overall would not choose to stay here again.

  I stay in this hotel during Canton fair. Our previws hotel make overbook and 4 days before fair we had to find new hotel.
  Location: far away from city center, in a new district (science City). They have shutle bus for fair (30 min) 3 in the morning and 2 in evening. From airport with taxy around 50 min.
  Rooms: big, clean and with a nice bed. But no balcony, no open window and AC makes to much nois.
  Brakfast: under averige - poor sellection of food
  Services: in hotel you find 5 restaurants (goods) and one supermarket (open till late).
  In area: many green places, one park and on 20 walk distance you find one mall (GT mall) with 7 floors of almost only foodcurts and restaurants. On basement they have supermarket. On top floor 3D cinema and 2-3 karaoke bars. On ground floor 2-3 pubs with live music.
  Overall: the hotel is mainly for chineese people use (I notice only few European, mainly local people). During fair was realy expensive (100 eur / night) and due to this the value for money ratio is not good.
  Next time we shall make reservation much earlier and choose one hotell from downtown (the room rates are similar but better location.

  Just got back from Guangzhou and stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. My opinions of this hotel:
  1. Decent rooms. Clean and doesn't smell bad.
  2. Run-of-the-mill hotel restaurants: Japanese, Korean, Chinese and a rather quiet bar.
  3. Decent sized gym.
  4. No pool.. too bad.
  5. Breakfast was so-so.
  The only reason why I stayed here is the location. Nothing much around to do so you will probably go nuts after 3 nights :)

  I am staying here for business. (Two nights in November). Score should be 3.5, but they don't have it in TripAdvisor.
  This hotel is close to the Crown Plaza which was fully booked. Locals told me this is the next best thing. About an hour drive from Guangzhou airport. (90 minutes if you take the 8A bus line. I didn't use it, but they have that information in the room).
  Pros:
  Good location if you need to be in Science City.
  Good English at reception.
  Good size modern room. Clean and everything functional.
  Good air-conditioning. Working all night long.
  Several restaurants in the hotel perimeter, accessible from inside the hotel and from the street. (I did not try any of them).
  So So:
  Hard bed. I like it, but I see many complaints about hard beds. So if this is an issue for you, don't say I didn't tell you.
  Internet available in the room both through WiFi and cable. But it is annoyingly slow.
  Breakfast is OK. Enough to get you outside the door for your day. Selection is more Chinese than western. Can get short on sitting during breakfast rush hour.(7:00-8:30)
  Bad:
  No English at all among staff outside reception. (The girl who takes your room number at breakfast, did not know numbers in English...)
  Hard to get a Taxi in this area.
  Safe in room not bolted down to anything. So considered as no safe in room.

• Very Nice westernised hotel - a long way from the town centre.

  The hotel was generally very good. Staff were helpful and spoke a reasonable amount of English. The breakfast was great - could get either Chinese or western food.
  There are a number of restaurants and a shopping centre within walking distance of the hotel. There is also a direct bus from the hotel to the airport for 27yuan.
  The location is great for science city but if you are there to sight see the hotel is about an hour from the town centre. Taxis are cheap - to be driven to town is 64yuan.
  The rooms have all the western conveniences - proper toilet, mini bar, Aircon, wifi, bath etc.
  Would definitely stay here again.
