  I stayed at the hotel September 2015. Very impressive entry and foyer area. There was no lobby bar to speak of. Just a couple of tables behind some plants. There was a Chinese restaurant and a a western style restaurant for buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a bakery stand. The largest challenge was that the staff although pleasant could not speak English with any level of competency.
  The room itself was comfortable and clean although a little dated. The wi-fi was free but slow and NO GOOGLE OR FACEBOOK so I had difficulty getting my emails although I believe this is the norm for China and not the fault of the hotel. So set up your email with outlook or other before travelling there.
  The buffet breakfast was ok but to get an omelette cooked was a challenge due to the language barrier. A haven for Chinese guests as there was plenty of Chinese food on offer. I just thought they could have tried a little harder with their English to be a truly international hotel.

  Hotel is very large. Staff are helpful. Pool and garden very good, the atmosphere around the pool was a tonic. For my purposes I found the location a bit out on a limb. I didn't use it but there was an excellent gym. The business support office were very helpful too.

• Lovely views of the Canton Tower and the new city

  I was at Ramada Pearl in April this year. A very expensive hotel which I fortunately managed to get at half the normal rate as the period I was visiting was a transit between one phase of the Canton Fair and another. My room was on the 23rd floor and it faced the Canton Tower, I must say the views of this lovely tower were awesome. I helped myself to several pictures everyday at different times. I also deliberately left my curtains open to enjoy the transition of the tower at different times.
  The food was ordinary, nothing that moved me to make recommendations to fellow travellers. The city of Guangzhou is robust with so many dining choices and so eating was not a challenge.
  I stayed in this hotel for four days. At the price I paid, I would definitely stay here again.
  While staying here I faced an incident which the manager on duty rudely failed to resolve but I got it fixed through the General
  manager.
  English was still a problem among waiters and room service staff. I found the location superb.

  I stayed here for a business trip - not for the trade fair although many guests seemed to be staying here for that. The hotel is a good size, but does need an update. The carpets and furniture are a little tired, but otherwise the room was clean and I had a lovely view of the river. Hotel guests also have access the the adjoining gym, which was one of best hotel gyms I've been to. Staff are polite and friendly, but communication with desk staff varied. I speak very little Chinese, so if the desk staff spoke little English, communication tended to be a problem. However, we got there in the end! The hotel is located by the river and it was nice to be able to stroll up to games park, opera house, library and financial centre. Saw lots of people jogging along that path.. But chose to walk!

  Staying one night there. I have very good sleep and the equipment inside the room is in good condition. Generally speaking, the environment is clean and tidy. Swimming pool is not big but sufficient. Price is not expensive HK$5XX/per night via bxxxing.com. We face the tower side (South East) and the night scene is great with river/pool view.
  The frontdesk staff is polite and check-in is fast and helpful. I will visit this hotel again if I got chance.
