I have been at this hotel during the work of Canton Fair. The location is good, not far from the city center, close to underground station (3 minutes walk). Taxi stop is also next to hotel, there are some shops and cafes around.
Hotel service was good, unfortunately only one lady at reception desk spoke English language.
The first room I got was very small and smelly. Then I changed for twin room on the upper floor, which was considerably better and yet the lighting was very poor. I would strongly recommend to do all the writting and other paper work during the daytime.
The breakfast was average, not many options for non-Chinese guest..

Good hotel to stay in the heart of the city. Specially for the canton fair. Staff cooperative tooo. Safe and secure for international tourists.
Food is also good. I had only breakfast there. Economical too.

Well, the hotel is not great as 4 star, but location is good, if you are business traveler, the area is safe and can walk around, if you are going for canton, this is good hotel as they have coach going to fair ground and return.
Room service was ok, food (I am vegetarian and did not took food at hotel) no comment, rooms are clean and enough for max 2 person sharing. Staff is responsive and co-operative and many understands English!!

First of all,the hotel's name is Gardford Hotel and not Grandford Hotel.
Stayed in the hotel at the time of Canton Fair and booked the hotel from ctrip.com where it claims to be a 4 star.
Guys,let me tell you,it is not even a 2 star hotel. It is a very old hotel with poor maintenance.The checkin took approximately 1 hour.Nobody at the front desk knew English except one lady who helped us in our entire 3 day stay.I appreciate her effort.The rooms are pathetic and not clean.The sofas are old and worn out.
I am an Indian and a pure vegetarian.In the breakfast buffer,I could not have anything as there is nothing vegetarian except a Wheat bread and some fruits.I survived on having Indian food near Dong Yue hotel.The canton fair ground is about 20 minutes drive from the hotel.

I got to the hotel, and surprisingly I found out that it is not where they say it is, the hotel is actually located 5 miles away, I asked the lady in the front desk "why do you write a wrong address?" and she started laughing and she wasn't helpful at all!!!
Later that night, I realized that the safe in our room doesn't work, I called the front desk, and for ten minutes i tried to explain to her that it doesn't work, apperantly she didn't know English at all, and she just keps saying " the safe is roken" so I didn't have a safe.
The day after that, I saw an attendant passing by the hall way, I asked him if he can take a look at the safe, and "abra calabria" it was open and working.
That is just a sample of the bed service in this hotel, the staff is not friendly most of them do not understand basic words in English.. Any ways, stay away from this hotel, it's cheap, but it is very expensive !!!!
