  Had a lovely stay at Crown Plaza Guangzhou. The staff are friendly and a majority speak English very well. The breakfast was great with a variety to choose from..... the location is good as its in the heart of the city.

• Old but wonderful

  Reviews talk about this Crowne Plaza as being old - having spent 2 nights in the hotel this thought never came to me
  - my room was wonderful- well appointed- no old stale smells - very clean
  - dining room for breakfast - great fare available - great service - good coffee
  - Reception - organised and efficient
  But best of all wonderful staff, there to help and assist

• Surprisingly Good! Home away from Home!

  This is an old property and was one of the first commercial buildings and tallest hotels in Guangzhou back in the days. I was skeptical when there are some new and modern hotels now near the East train station and also Tai Koo, but this was the best location for me for business reasons. The location depends on where you need to go, it is around 15-25mins to East station depending on traffic.
  
  The outstanding feature of this hotel is that the rooms are huge! I was on an upper Club level (40+), the main bedroom with desk and seating areas is larger than most living rooms, and the walk in wardrobe and bathroom are as big as two separate rooms. You definitely have a feeling of returning to a place like "home away from home" after a long day of meetings, and don't feel stuck in a small hotel room.
  
  The breakfast is a widespread delicious spread that covers western, Indian, middle easter, and all different types of Chinese cuisine. It has one of the most varieties of Chinese noodle stations I have seen in China, and if you ever thought you couldn't have humus, fresh flat breads and nan for breakfast, this hotel breakfast buffet would delight you.
  
  The staff are very helpful and attentive, for Ambassadors/members, they also leave a flask filled with fresh homemade Chinese soup when they turn down your room, a nice homey comfort and surprise that is delighting when you return to your room after a long day.
  
  The leisure club is old and not that inviting, but there is an outdoor pool, it needs some renovating and gets busy in the morning, people swim in one big circle... There is a small area where you could sunbathe.
  
  This hotel is great value for money, and especially if you are a IHG member. I was pleasantly surprised and will return again!

• Huge room and Excellent Services!!

  I can't stop recommending the service of the staffs and the cleaniness of the hotel... They are so far the best I had ever seen in Guangzhou!! worthy of the 5 stars standard! Front desk staffs spoke excellent English!
  
  The hotel room is very big and there a "walk in waderode" which is so un expected. and yes! the bed, oh my... so comfortable that I almost refused to get out of bed.
  
  Walking distance to the MRT is about 300 metres. There is a shopping centre opposite which is under renovation which not much things to eat... Too bad I was there for 1 night only hence haven't got chance to walk around..
