Poly WTC Apartments Poor
Rainier-Vosloo
Hamilton, New Zealand | Oct 20, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI booked and payed online, when I went to book in I had to pay for the room again, with a promise the online payment will be returned to my account.
A week later and I am still waiting for the refund.
The apartment was clean and well located but did not provide the basic accessories like an iron etc.
The lifts was a disaster and we often had to wait 20 min plus for an elevator.
Overall, ok and functional but ruined the experience with the booking and elevator issues.
Staff is friendly and helpful.

Good bang for the buck

Dec 13, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessWent there during Canton Fair and their prices were elevated for the event but still cheap compared to surrounding hotels.
Rooms felt a little run down but were otherwise quite nice. Great sleep, nice chic bathroom shower. View was alright as it was looking across a muddy channel at a shanty farming thing.
Overall though, for the price it was great value.
Criticism would be that the elevator is extremely slow. During busy times, you can wait 5 minutes for an available elevator. No exaggeration.
Wifi was hit and miss for speed and connection. -
Beautiful place, excellent value

Harare | Jul 26, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessWe stayed here for 1 night while attending the canton fair.
Seamless check in and check out.
Close to the canton fair and the canton tower. Close to the metro train station.
Very clean and modern.
However, it's a hustle to get an english speaking attendant. -
Good value

Belgium | Nov 4, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessGood value for a business stay. If you are attending the Canton Fair, this hotel is perfectly located, and has direct access to the Pazhou Station. It modern and clean, but not luxurious. It ranks a modest 3 Stars in my book. The down side : There are few good restaurants in the area though. If you want a good dinner, you may want to try the restaurant at the YIWU Commatel (5th floor), or at the Westin.

Canton Fair

Perth, Australia | May 14, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessWe booked this hotel by luck of the draw and we were delighted when we saw how close to the fair we were.
It is very important to have a map with the address in Chinese as the entry is extremely difficult to find access. Chinese taxi drivers pick and choose who they will take and where they will take you. At the time of the morning we arrived it was easier to get the extended taxi service which cost a lot but sometimes expediency comes at a cost.
The check in staff were surly and very very unfriendly. We were booking in at 2am and very tired. You get one key card no matter how many guests in the room.
Exceptionally inconvenient but we worked around it by getting an on duty person to come up and unlock the room if one of us wanted to finish early at the fair.
The front office staff attitude did not change all two weeks we were there. It was such an inconvenience for them to have to look after guests.
We had a large bed in a room by itself and one double and KS single in the living room.
There were 3 of us sharing (adults-family on business). It had a nice kitchen, bathroom, WIR, separate toilet. Kitchen had a fridge, freezer, stove, microwave and washer dryer. The seals on the freezer were broken so each day we would have to chip away ice from the edge to stop it melting onto the floor. There are absolutely no cooking utensils. Luckily we had been warned and all bought along personal items. But you still cant cook with out pans. On the second week our room attendant bought us in a basket of utensils but really couldn't do us much good as there are no real shops to buy cooking ingredients.
If you want an iron and ironing board give them plenty of notice so you will have it in time for clothes preparation.
And as I have seen in other reviews toilet paper seems to be an issue. The room lady who was absolutely lovely would give us one roll a day (hmmmm 3 ladies) so each day I would beg for more. I am sure she was rationed. You could not buy it around there.
There were the usual hotel toiletries, dressing gowns, slippers.
We had to have the plumber up 2 times for odd toilet problems and yes a drain smell could be smelt coming through the toilet plumbing. Toilets block easy and the Chinese have a habit of putting the paper in a bin beside the toilet and not flushing it.
Breakfast was via voucher at a little coffee shop in the basement of the whole complex. No such thing as sour bread......all bread was sweet...(including sweet hotdogs in sweet rolls at the fair). So it was generally melted cheese on sweet toast, a piece of fruit and a cuppacino (good).
There is a Family Mart in the complex that is the size of a bedroom with very limited stock but it helped us get through. This was not a gastronomic adventure. We ate a couple of local hotels and all we could say it was filling. We made the mistake of going to the Westin Pazhou one evening for a buffet. Our big mistake was not asking first what it would cost for 3 softdrinks and 3 dinners. The buffet was certainly beautiful but when we got the bill we gulped and it hurt !
You could travel on the underground or take a taxi over to Newtown and Liede for lots and lots of restaurants and nightlife.
TV was ok and we found an odd program to watch and Wifi was good.
Overall we were very happy with our stay here as the location had it all. We will stay there again. As we were there over Canton Fair week it was very expensive but we thought worth it in the long run.
And why did I give 3 stars for service...because our room lady was wonderful to us.
