  The thing I love about Westins are that I can expect excellence at all of their restaurants all over the world. Here the staff are super friendly and incredibly helpful. The room was very spacious and the hotel is quite close to everything I needed, if not a cheap taxi fare away. Albeit, not so close to the airport, but had I wanted to stay nearer to the airport, I would have. I do wish they had a shuttle to the airport, however. I've stayed here twice so far, and I'd definitely come back again.

• Moldy ventilation was a big minus

  Service was amazing. Amenities was complete. Booked a room with Executive Club access. The Club Lounge has amazing service & ok food. Lots of drinks to choose from.
  Room - bed was very comfortable. However, as soon as I entered the room I could smell mold. Carpet was also quite dirty. I sprayed the room with my essential oils but couldn’t get rid of the moldy smell. The Club Lounge also smelled of mildew & mold. The room was run down & not kept well & wasn’t very clean. It’s a pity for Westin hotel group. I could tell the whole hotel had moldy ventilation air con vents.

• Great service, rooms, and pretty accessible

  Was contemplating between Sheraton and Westin for 2 nights and decided to go for the latter because it was slightly cheaper and that it's close to Guangzhou East station meaning I can simply walk to the hotel after arriving. I was mistaken as it wasn't as close as it seems and in the extremely humid weather the journey was treacherous. It's actually closer to Linhe West metro station in case anyone wants to know.
  
  I reserved a Deluxe room and was upgraded to an Executive by way of Starwood Gold Elite membership. Checking in was a breeze and I was up in my room quickly.
  
  The room was as good as expected, rain shower, bathtub with a shower head is a plus for me. Herman Miller Aeron chair was a pleasant surprise. The service of the hotel employees from reception to concierge were all above average, especially the concierge who managed to get me my train ticket back to Kowloon, HK even though it was all sold out albeit at a higher price.
  
  I had 2 problems during my stay. 1 which I should've reported but only really realized on the second night and decided to let it be. This was the temperature and humidity of the room. The AC control allows adjustment of the temperature to as low as 10 degrees celsius which I knew wasn't going to happen but I realized that the actual temperature doesn't go lower than 25 in the room which you can imagine wasn't as comfortable especially when it's humid and that made the entire room stuffy. Just by stepping out of the room and being in the elevator you can feel a huge contrast between the temperature and humidity.
  
  The second problem was an accident in the bath tub which could happen to anyone. To switch the water from the faucet to the shower spray, you have to rotate this silver plastic disc-like knob. My hands were soapy and when I tried to rotate the knob, my hands slipped and the sharp edge of the plastic knob cut my thumb and it bled. Perhaps management can change it to something safer because I can imagine children getting cut as well.
  
  The hotel also has complimentary shuttle service that brings you to Guangzhou East station which I thought was a really great idea. The entire ride only took 5 minutes and I found out from the driver that you can contact the hotel in advance and they can pick you up. That could've been done only if I had a phone I could use upon arrival in Guangzhou.

• Quick business stay - Everything just works.

  SPG-P Chinese-American guest, speaking English within the property. Stayed two nights for a meeting in Dongguan with transportation via Guangzhou East Station on the CRH. Was contacted by staff prior to my stay to arrange preferences. Upgraded to Exec Suite by Catherine in the lounge via email.
  
  Room - The room had 4 thermostats just to give you an idea of its size. Much more room than I needed, but was appreciated. The room looks great - you can feel some aging, but everything is clean and in working order. No complaints here. FYI Elevator is SUPER SLOW. If you're on a high floor, go ahead and take a nap in the elevator. Don't bother setting an alarm. You'll wake up before you're there.
  In room coffee is French Press which is a relief over the breakfast espresso machine. I use two packs of their Columbian Coffee blend to make one large cup of coffee. Nice and strong.
  
  Dining - As an SPG-P member, you have the option to have breakfast in either the Lounge or the Restaurant. I tend to choose the restaurant simply bc of selection and turnover. HUGE selection. Ideal Asian hotel breakfast buffet. Custom omelettes, custom noodles, etc etc. Service staff attentive, with smiles. A kids play area at the end of the restaurant.
  
  Lounge - Catherine was extremely helpful in getting some documents printed for me. She was eager to help, and attentive to my needs (and other's needs in the lounge equally). Definitely an asset for Westin.
  
  Overall - My reviews are much more extensive, however, this property, while nothing really impressed me, everything just worked as it should. Hotel was clean, comfortable, priced right (outside of Canton Fair dates), and super convenient to the train station. I had debated whether to stay here or the higher rated Sheraton, but I think I picked the right property for my needs.

• Amazing Hospitality

  Westin Guangzhou near east Railway station has one of the most amazing hospitality, the experience from checkin to checkout is just amazing, hospitality and service is Amazing, Executive Lounge manager Adam and his colleagues, Ivy, Maggie, Amy, Catherine and of course Ms Janet do an excellent job at the Lounge keeping every guest Oohappy , Ms Ada oversees all restuarants and does a great job visiting all restuarants frequently, the breakfast spread is awesome lead by Executive chef Jackson and service led by Taste manager, overall personally and frequently supervised by vice GM ms Cindy, just an Amazing experience of hospitality, Experience the syay for yourself, this is my Home in Guangzhou
