Nice hotel for business stay
PK O
Nov 4, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI stayed in this hotel for 2 nights from 31 Oct 2025 to 2 November 2015. This is a nice and new hotel. The hotel staff were friendly and service was reasonably good. The room I stayed was clean and comfortable, and also has a nice view. However, this hotel is not in the city centre.

Ok butfar

Guangzhou, China | Dec 25, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThis hotel has anything you would need in a regular chain hotel, it even could be considered luxurious, but its location is quite far from the center of Fuzhou, so you should consider this when booking.

Good hotel between Fuzhou and Mawei
dougiet33
Aberdeen, Scotland | Nov 17, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThe Howard Johnson hotel is a good hotel and it's located between Fuzhou and Mawei, as noted by other travellers there is not much around the hotel but it's a quiet base for your stay. The hotel is right by the river and you can go for walks along the promenade which is OK. The streets around the hotel are safe and have a few shops where you can pick up essentials. If you head away from the river up to the roundabout then head left, there are some restaurants around there and more down a street to the right just along the road. These are local restaurants and some are very basic and best avoided but others are OK. The rooms in the hotel are very good with plenty space and a comfy bed. Some of the staff don't speak the best English but you'll always find someone who does if you have a more complicated request. The breakfast is fine but a lot of the hot plates don't keep the food warm, there is a chefs station so you can get fresh eggs or other things as desired. There is a very large selection of other items including Dim Sum, spring rolls, cereals, bread, pastries, fruit etc so you won't go hungry. The hotel has 3 restaurants which are all OK, the Chinese one is pretty good and not too expensive, the Japanese one is also good but the costs could mount up if you're not careful, sadly our visit to the Japanese restaurant was tarnished by a small cockroach appearing on our table, not what we'd expect from a 5 star hotel. The last restaurant is a grill type affair which doubles as the breakfast rom, we didn't eat here as it was expensive but it offered steaks and grilled fish options. I sadly found a few cockroaches in my room as well which I think came out of the drain in the floor, as the streets are so dirty it's almost impossible to eradicate them and the hotel is spotless otherwise. The hotel has a car which can take you into town and back free of charge which was handy, it's a set times so no use if you have a meeting but good for a wander around. I would stay here again as the location suited us perfectly on the edge of town and the level of service was good.

Good Hotel, but way out of Town
Scott84330
Singapore | Nov 7, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThis hotel is new and very nice, the rooms are clean and comfortable with big bath tubs and good amenities with a brand new fitness center - nothing like the stateside HOJOs. The food and service is good, but most of the staff does not speak much English and simple requests can be a challenge. Also, there is nothing to do close to the hotel.
My only real complaint about the hotel is that the concierge desk is worthless. I was there for three weeks for business and getting set up with any weekend activities is a complete no-go -and even getting a taxi out is a challenge. The hotel is on the outskirts of Fuzhou (Mawei to be exact) and some taxis will not even bring you to the hotel from the city center.
So if you have business in Mawei, this is a good choice, but don't plan on doing much besides retiring into your bed every night.
