  Really nowhere near Chongqing but Hechuan is a good place to visit in its own right. Hotel is very Western and upmarket located right between the river and the government square with an impressive sculpture and pagodas in walking distance. Rooms are big , c!ran and well equipped. Hotel misses "excellent" for few reasons: difficult to order room service in English, TV channels are abundant but almost all are Chinese, and there are buildings going up all around because this is the developing quarter of the city. However, these can all be sorted and the staff are superb, very attentive, and the breakfast was excellent.

  This hotel is a excellent choice, particularly for western travelers. The rooms are large (particularly compared to other "higher end" hotels in China), modern and comfortable. The breakfast buffet provided many options to suit different tastes. We stayed there at the same time that there was a fairly large convention taking place, but we never felt crowded or inconvenienced because the facilities accommodated a large number of people at the same time and the staff was always helpful/hospitable. While the staff were not all fluent in English, most understood enough to help us any way they could (Note: the convention participants were primarily speaking German and it appeared that the staff was equally understanding/helpful with them).
  I should note two things: 1) the wireless service in some of the rooms was weaker than in others (the corner room appeared to have less dependable service, although there was always strong broadband support in the lobby and meeting rooms); and 2) the hotel will exchange currency at the current rate of exchange, but the staff are reluctant to take older/worn bills (they are required to record all serial numbers and there was a feeling that new bills looked more legitimate) - so bring new bills, if possible.

• Great hotel in Hechuan

  This is indeed an outstanding hotel in a great, convenient location right next to the river. Very attentative service, nice rooms and fairly good breakfast (by Chinese standards at least). Important note: this hotel is NOT located in Chongqing city, but 60 kilometres to the north in the town of Hechuan, so you should only book this hotel if you are specifically visiting the Hechuan area.

  Top of the line 5 star hotel and accepts aarp discount Excellent location for Dazu Unesco site The town is developing into a good tourist town The food is excellent and all the room are great if you stay longer a larger room makes it better
