A plesant nights sleep
AustraliaOwen
Newcastle, Australia | Jul 12, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesWe only stayed 1 night here and arrived around midnight. The Hotel is on a hillside with no view of the river from the room we had, however we did not stay here to see the river. We were here to join a cruise down the Yangtze.
We were on the 5th floor and had a view of a nice garden. The room was large, clean and the bed was lovely and soft. The bathroom was clean and had a wide range of amenities with a nice bath and shower. The toilet was cute, but not sure why you would require a heated seat in a city like Chongqing, as it is not in a cold climate area.
The breakfast was OK except that they precook the fried eggs and they were cold. I would assume that they would have cooked fresh ones if asked, but we did not bother. The issue we did have was the toaster that takes too long to cook without changing settings and then still not very affective; this was the case in all the hotels we stayed in during our trip in China. We found this funny considering the cost of a toaster.
Check in was easy as was check out.
All in all, a good hotel that we would maybe rate as a 4+ star. All the staff that we met were friendly and tried to assist where possible. We would stay here again if we go back to Chongqing -
not sure 5* B/B value
youngandsixty
plymouth | May 3, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesNot on the riverside as the name implies, this hotel is on a slight hill.We were on the 5th.floor nice room with a iron & ironing board which I used,as well as all the usual complimentries.
The balcony was rather scruffy, not very large and without chairs, disappointing. Had a view of the pool which seemed popular although, we did not use it. The main thing I liked in the bathroom was the heated toilet seat, I want one.
Breakfast was nothing special the food all seemed on the cool side.No mention of the free drink advertised on arrival either.I would not have said this was a 5* hotel.
We stayed two nights here, and enjoyed Chongqing, the riverside walk is very pleasant, lit up at night.we ate in a local restaurant further up the hill from the hotel. Also used the cable car to visit the center, great views crossing the river. From Chongquing we joined a Yangtze river cruise. -
You will not see any river
Peter_Pe
Gothenburg, Sweden | Apr 28, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessDespite the hotel name You will not see any river. The hotel is actually somewhat off-side. The Marriott hotel on the side of the river is much better located. The positive side is that it is not so crowded. I got a King Studio room, this is not worth the money because the standard rooms are located towrds the garden and much more silent.

Good room.....catering lets the property down
SuzandGee
Adelaide, Australia | Nov 12, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesWe stayed at the property overnight recently after a Yangtze River cruise.
Had no problems finding the hotel which appears to be on the opposite side of the River from the centre of the city but as has been mentioned previously there are restaurant options nearby.
Check-in was relatively painless and we were quickly shown to our fifth floor non smoking double room, as requested.
The room was a surprise and by my experience quite typical of the CP's current standards. Great size with sitting chair and desk with flat screen tv. The beds were good and the linen was excellent. Unlike other guests our a/c worked as it was designed to. The bathroom had a separate bath in addition to the shower and both provided immediate hot water.
Wi-Fi was free.
Check-out was very efficient and the front desk staff were excellent in ensuring a taxi was available (as requested) to get us to the airport for our next flight.
There has been previous comment re the lack of English on the front desk. This is correct but not a problem to us as one of the male staff had good English and was enthusiastic in supporting the other team members. I do often wonder what attention other tourists give to the nationalities of their fellow travellers when I read comments criticising desk staff. Despite our preference to speak in English the fact is the volume of overseas tourists visiting China remains very small compared to the domestic numbers, and hence it might not always be justifiable, let alone possible, to have multi-lingual staff?? Patience is a great help when working through these situations people!!
Great work front desk and concierge team.
Unfortunately, that's where the good news ends.
We had dinner in the Café and chose buffet over a la carte? Nothing really outstanding in the fare and too many dishes were simply not warm/hot enough.
Breakfast the next morning was probably the worst I have experienced in a long while.
We arrived at 8.30 and too many stations had been depleted but not refilled. I do not think this was a traffic issue but more a lack of staff or staff attention. Also dishes remained on tables which had not been cleared. Again some of the prepared food was cold.
A disappointing uninspiring result which seriously detracts from our front desk experience.
