Surprising Comforting Stay but location not that good!!

Surrey | Sep 29, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyI booked the Holiday Inn Express from the group site at IHG expecting location near the metro (which it states nearby) however the metro is a good half hour walk if you can find your way. On our way home from a day out in the city we relied in absence of a taxi on the help of a young man who literally escorted us back to the hotel to make sure we got in and refused politely our money in return for a taxi for himself. We are grateful to him but I was perturbed as to why I had booked this hotel at all which is amidst a vast city. Having stayed here I can say I was pleasantly surprised by the comfortability of the rooms in new modern surroundings a good three star hotel very clean and a good quality breakfast buffet I would say is four stars in comparison to other hotels. The customer service from front desk is very good the etiquette and manner impeccable and we were grateful to be able to leave our luggage with the hotel until a few days later to collect when we return leaving us hands free for our trip to Chengdu. So a thumbs up for the hotel and in comparison although I winge about the location it is a short taxi ride to both the local metro and main railway station which is Chongqing North about 10 and 20 yuan respectively or 1 and two pounds respectively. All in all a decent stay.

A bit out of the way but clean and tidy

Victoria, B.C. Canada | Apr 8, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessRoom is clean and spacious, very comfortable with a good price. Subway is convenient if you can walk a bit - requires one change going almost anywhere that tourist goes, a solid 20 mins walk to Jiazhou station, big shopping, restaurants next door and a block over, clean, spacious, Chinese - no English, excellent Wifi nice spread for breakfast in a nice room of both Chinese and Western dishes

Near perfection but....

Singapore, Singapore | Nov 13, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesCurrently still staying as of 14 Nov. Really can't fault anything in this hotel from comfy bed to friendly staffs. Location is good for the mini mall and supermarket near the hotel such convenience priceless for the wet November. Taxi is my former of transport when overseas so mrt and buses location is not within my consideration, well taxis are easy to get too just walk to the bus stop there's plenty. Here comes the only minus point I give, I stay at 1711 which I don't know if it's too high the wifi is nearly none existence. I consider wifi a very important part of my hotel stay especially in China cos mobile data plans are hefty in China and I used a large amount of it.i gave the hotel benefit of a doubt after reading reviews on trip advisor and really regret it.pls do something about your wifi, I don't mind paying for wifi.

price reasonable for this comfortable hotel

Hong Kong, China | Sep 22, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayDuring the winter, prices are cheaper than the summer. Hotel is located well, not far from city centre, it takes a while to get a taxi but patience is the word, you need to wait a while and a taxi will show up soon. The breakfast is simple but it is free, cannot complain. On the whole, it is okay for the price

Location, location, location

Hackensack, New Jersey | Nov 24, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayThis is a typical Chinese Holiday Inn Express Hotel. The rooms are comfortable. The breakfast buffet has a good variety of food. However, the most important thing when traveling is location and transportation. Those are the reasons I'm giving this hotel a poor rating.
Also, while most of the staff was friendly, one young lady was not at all helpful and had never heard of many of the sites we asked about (two of which are national monuments)! That just ruins the experience. Also, they would not book taxis for us. It's a "service we do not provide".
The best place to get a taxi is to walk straight out of the hotel (don't go left) to the intersection where you can hail a taxi from two different roadways. Good luck getting a taxi when the shifts change. This time seems to change on a daily basis.
The only positive thing about this hotel stay is the small restaurant nearby with the best Dan Dan Mien noodles in Chongqing or Chengdu. To get there, make a left out of the hotel and keep going left until you get to the shopping area (Ren Ren Le market). The restaurant is on the left before entering the market (picture attached).
