Best value in Chengdu
Kit P
Surabaya, Indonesia | May 22, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyThis hotel is just 5 minutes walking distance to the Wenshu temple, located in the city centre. Check-in was easy. Staff attitude are good although most of them don't understand English but they really tried to be helpful. The room and bathroom spacious. I think this was old building renovated and equipped with modern amenities. When we told them that we might need to check out early morning they offered us to pack our free breakfast.

Great location and decent price

new hampshire | Dec 10, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThis hotel is in a great location, is clean, comfortable and festive for the Christmas holiday. The only incident we had was when checking in, they were unable to find our reservation. They gave us the room we booked and held a credit card in case they couldn't find our reservation. However, hotels.com immediately took care of it and within 12 hrs the reservation was found. The hotel is super convenient and within walking distance of the Wenshu temple, many delicious restaurants and even a hot pot place. We had breakfast each morning which was always hot and had a great mix of western and Chinese options. Taxi from the airport to the hotel is about 40 min and around 62 rmb and from the hotel to the airport is around the same. The easiest way to get to panda center is via taxi which is around 30-40 rmb and around 45 minutes. The staff even helped us map out how to get to Leshan and wrote down what we needed to say. All in all, besides the check-in glitch, I would recommend this hotel for its cleanliness, location, customer service and general ambiance.

A bit odd but enjoyed it

China | Dec 6, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesHad a few initial issues while checking in at this hotel. Booked on hotels.com and they were unable to locate the reservation. Lobby and rooms have a very unique, almost Victorian lounge decor. Room was nice. Large, nice bathroom, cool entertainment system that also controlled lights and thermostat from the tv. Location was great. Quick cab ride to see pandas, nice walk to temples, shopping streets and places to eat. Breakfast was not great but had lots of options. Coffee was bad. All things considered i would stay here again given price and location.

Not much to complain about here!

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates | Sep 4, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI stayed here over three days for a conference. The hotel is beautiful, the staff very friendly although the lack of English speaking staff caused some confusion - but that's not really an issue, as we were in central China, and my mandarin was far worse than their English!
The room was spacious, no view to speak of as I was on a lower floor. The bathroom was great, no shortage of hot water. Room was serviced daily to a very high standard.
The restaurant was very good with a mixture of local food, western food and a Muslim eating area. This was a great opportunity to sample some local delicacies which was an interesting experience, one I was pleased to be able to do.
The location is just across the road from a small set of streets offering a neat insight into Chinese life, with local arts and crafts, street food and tea houses lining the streets. I recommend several walks through this area, particularly in the evenings.
Overall a wonderful place to stay, and should I return to Chengdu would definitely stay here again. -
Great Location! Gym was Interesting, as was Executive Lounge!

Halifax, Canada | Aug 19, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessLets start with the good. The hotel is pretty clean, the rooms are nice and have all of the features you would expect in a modern hotel. Breakfast is great, and there is plenty of selection, the staff are also mostly helpful. The beds are amongst the best I have ever slept on in a hotel in China.
The not so good: Upon checking out with our large group they wanted to bill us for the Ice bucket which we supposedly took, and the hangers (neither of which our group actually tried to take or wanted to take. Frankly the items cost 10 RMB and the hotel wanted to charge us for them...) As well as the key cards - which they tried to charge 100 RMB for some which were "missing" and by missing I mean left in the rooms in the lights...
The Awful: The Gym... Terrible. It has one of those giggle belts. When someone in our group actually tried to use the gym they were told by a man who was napping and smoking on the gym sofa that it was "broken".. Right... Similarly when anyone tried to use the executive lounge despite being on the floor and in a suite they were escorted out and the staff had to come up from downstairs. Drinks there are sold, but for cash only. And they don't really want you in there - which is fine because the "staff" of the lounge are so busy smoking cigarettes you'd smell like an ash tray if you stayed there for more than 5 minutes.
The really awful: The decor of this place assaults the senses. If you are an interior designer, or are picky about taste you should not stay here. The hotel has a greco roman inspired lobby stuffed with modernized (spray painted) french provincial furnishings topped off with a giant advertising jumbotron over the stairs. As you move towards your room you'll find modern elevators, carpets (miss cut) with Chinese artifacts and furnishings, topped off with classical european light fixtures! And when you get to your room and put the key in the lights you'll be assaulted by elevator music.
Overall I would stay here again. But thats because decor doesn't matter much to me. But if it matters to you, or being asked to pay for an ice bucket (who steals an ice bucket? Seriously its cheap plastic.) is going to cause you to have an episode of rage you should probably stay elsewhere.
