Completing my review: very very pleased
carpe d
London, United Kingdom | Jul 26, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI would have completed my review earlier but Trip Advisor has a 3 month moratorium. So here I am again, in all fairness to the hotel since they took such good care of me during my long stay. This is a Chinese style 3/4 star hotel with outstanding service.
Staff were friendly in a non-fake way. I was made to feel totally welcome, and nobody was after a tip. Not one person. I have been in China a lot and this was genuine hospitality. It is a large, university owned hotel with few foreign guests. I hardly saw another foreign face. The staff were very eager to please, even protective of me. English is an issue here, but the staff know how to cope - they use the internet and online translation. For example, if I wanted to go anywhere by taxi, I would give them the address in English, they would type it into the system and bingo, the valet would be off with instructions for the taxi driver. There was constant communication going with my Chinese friends and colleagues who I would email or sms when I needed something done, and they would call the hotel and it would be done, pronto.
Hotel is modern and on the minimalist side. I had a business suite, which was perfect for my needs. Never any problem with the internet connection. Good room temperature. Room service possible from the restaurant. Good housekeeping. One day, I got dan dan noodles splashed over my white shirt (new, of course). The housekeeping captain got some bleach and washed it out for me. Very happily. Part of the job. No tip wanted. Where do you get that? Laundry charges were reasonable. Service quality was constant, meaning staff are well trained and supervised.
Facilities minimal. There is one restaurant. One gets a bit bored with the respectable food on a long stay, but there are decent restaurants 10 minutes away and cheap ones almost directly outside the hotel. And of course there is lots more choice downtown, about 30 mins away by cab.
Recommended for visitors who have to be in the university area. Traffic can be bad for going downtown, but that applies anywhere in Beijing. -
First full day is promising

London, United Kingdom | Mar 21, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI will be on a long stay here. But I thought it could be helpful to register initial comments. Very convenient for my purposes. Nice clean business room, all necessary modcons. Wifi in the rooms and all over. Decent restaurant, with room service. All ok, but slow though and the restaurant shuts at 9 pm! Staff are delightfully helpful in spite of the language barrier. One even came with me to a nearby restaurant to help me order food. Front desk were so careful about my room service order, calling up to ensure I understood there would be room service charge, and then again to ensure that I understood that something I ordered was spicy. So, good first 24 hours, and we shall see if they keep it up.

Limited Chinese
ournewsong
Los Angeles, California | May 28, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelI speak limited Chinese and have had some trouble communicating with the hotel staff. Everyone seems nice though. The hotel is much better than I read in the reviews below. There is a supermarket within walking distance from the hotel on a small side street. The hotel restaurant is clean and modern with beautiful crystal chandeliers that look new. The room is pretty good but it could use a little sweeping under the furniture and the bathroom could use a little more cleaning and updating. According to the hotel directory, there is supposed to be a fitness room, sauna, billiards, karaoke room, and a coffee shop on the second and third floors but I've walked it all and can't seem to find any of the above.

Restyled, modern, clean, far from metro
fearlessprof
Paris, France | May 22, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessHave stayed here four or five times for about a week, while teaching at the university. Hotel is clean, rooms are OK, modern and business-like with big flat-screen TV (Chinese channels, but with HDMI/VGA connection so you can connect your laptop and watch your own films if you want), slow but free Wifi, very hard Chinese-style mattresses and overall quiet. Frequented mostly by university-affiliated groups (conferences, etc.). Breakfast and lunch are buffet style with selection of Chinese and Western dishes, dinner a-la-carte. Restaurant very recently restyled: modern and clean but not my choice for an evening out. Staff are friendly but with very few exceptions speak only Chinese (I don't, but haven't had any difficulties). BUPT campus offers a good nearby Maan coffeeshop, cheap student dining and a rather expensive basement gym which I can't recommend. Nearest good supermarket is about a 20 minute walk (or maybe I overlooked something), and so is the metro (for sure), which is for me the main disadvantage (next to hard beds). Overall quite acceptable, but I wouldn't go here as a tourist mainly because it is out of the way. The brothel story I read about in another review is absolute nonsense, at least since I started coming here in 2011.

Does the job

Montréal, QC | Jul 15, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesMy boyfriend was studying at the University across the street, thus the location was convenient for us. However, in comparison to everything else, the hotel is far. Luckily, taxis are very inexpensive. Bank, grocery market, restos in vicinity. Clean rooms. Communication issues with Chinese staff that barely understands or speaks English.
