wall-to-wall carpeting is not for public places!
Daniel G
Beijing, China | Apr 19, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThe most striking thing was the carpet in the bedroom: dirty! Incidentally, the wall paper was not much better. Why on earth (earth would be better as I come to think of it) do you want wall-to-war carpeting in a room where different people walk in from outside (Beijing's sidewalks are not the cleanest I've seen) everyday? Other than that, the bathroom was clean (of course with tiles).
Another annoying thing: doors were too thin, and loud-talking Chinese guests going from one room to another woke us up two nights in a row. Very annoying if you're there for work and work long hours everyday.
No breakfast available in this hotel, only a kettle (water not potable without boiling in most of China), but not even instant coffee.
The bright side is the location (very close to Houhai (downtown lake) and nice little eateries), and the fact that the staff was very polite, greeting us every time we walked by, something uncommon in China where customer service still has some progress to make. -
Good location and good price.

Dublin | Jun 4, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesWe stayed in Jinlongyuan Hotel in Abril and the weather was quite cold, especially in the evenings.
The first night we arrived late, and the staff in reception didn't speak a word of english, however they were always kind and helpful and they rang a person who spoke with us in english on the phone and asked us if we needed anything.
They gave us a room which was very cold and aged.
The next morning we asked for a better room and we changed to one that was south facing which was warmer and newer.
Internet was available only via LAN cable but the ISP that they use makes everything really slow to a point that it is impossible to surf ANY foreign page. Fortunately we found a small cafe near the Drum Tower which had a good ISP and free wifi.
There is a good restaurant next door that specializes in szechuan cousine, very tasty if you like spicy food!
The hotel is 2min walk to the Drum Tower and 10min walk to Golou Dajie metro station.
Easy to get to the hotel from the airport if you take the airport train and connect to the metro, should only take 45 min.
Taxis are also easy to catch around this area even at 5:30am -

Below Average Hotel

New York City, New York | Nov 17, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelThis review is for a 3-day stay in October 2014. I realize this is an affordable hotel and generally I'm not a picky person, but this hotel is disappointing even given the cheap rate.
The okay:
1. I think the hotel gave me an upgrade because they had plenty of rooms available.
2. The lobby looked acceptable except there were heavy smokers working there during my entire stay so I never really sat there.
3. Location is acceptable for commuting to Hou Hai (back lakes). It took me about 10-15 minutes to walk over. It's also about 10 minutes to the nearest subway line #8 stop.
4. Heat worked well. Also a plus that the heat is powered independently from the rest of the room, i.e. heat will stay on when you take your key and leave the room.
The bad:
1. This is a big one. Bathroom smelled really really bad. I kept the door closed the entire time and gotten into a habit of holding my breath when I had to use the bathroom.
2. Also a big one for me, the hotel carpet is really really dirty, both in the hallway and in the room. We are talking about serious visible stains everywhere! I was glad that I had a spare pair of slippers to wear around the room. The hotel did provide plastic bathroom slippers.
3. Hotel cleaning staff leaves their supplies/gear everywhere, within plain sight of hotel guests.
4. Not a biggie, but TV reception is poor, not sure if it's due to cable connection or TV quality. I did not bother to ask the front desk.
There are reasonably priced much cleaner hotels in better location in the area. For my money, I would stay elsewhere.
If anyone does decide to stay in this hotel, note shower is standing only and there is no separation of wet and dry. The bed is Chinese style hard mattress. Also the hotel takes 100 RMB for security deposit when you check in, which will be returned to you when you check out.
