An average experience
Grace L
Hong Kong, China | Dec 17, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessHad stayed in January this year for an event and the hotel was chosen by the organizer. I got a small room which is basically clean, but the lighting is a bit poor for me. There’s a nice view out of the window. Had tried the restaurant nearby that serves some western dishes in family style, the food tastes okay and the portion was quite big. Overall it’s not an impressive hotel, though the room rates are very reasonable and the staff are generally helpful.

Just okay

Aug 11, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyThe nice feature of this hotel is the canal ferry at the back that takes you to the Summer Palace. Other than that, I don't find the location very convenient. The Metro is quite far away. The rooms are average and the breakfast (I enjoy Chinese breakfast) is mediocre. Price is okay.

Comfy and clean

Inverness, United Kingdom | May 27, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayWe stayed here for 3 nights in total on 2 separate occasions. Rooms were clean and comfortable. This hotel is a good distance from the hectic city but is well placed for transport. As we were travelling as a group we didn't have much contact with the staff at this hotel. The breakfasts had plenty of choice with fresh fruit, bread and Chinese food in abundance. Eggs were fried to order. No cereals though but there was porridge made from rice. We also had lunch here, in the Chao Yang Fang restaurant which was a good variety of Chinese food. All in all it was a good experience.

Careless about customers

Middlesex | Oct 18, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI can only echo the comments of the previous reviewer. There is no excuse for a hotel that is careless about its customers. The key is to make your clients feel like valued and honoured guests, not commodities. Then there is the hotel itself. Why are the rooms so scuffed and tatty? Why do the carpets in the rooms reek of cigarette smoke and ash? It really had the worst air quality of any hotel I have ever visited. I would add that the location is dismally inconvenient, unless you are big on zoos; this isn't a hotel that feels like a "Beijing experience" at all, just a place to stay on a traffic island.

Very Disappointing Experience

London, United Kingdom | Oct 16, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessMy party of seven arrived renting out 6 rooms. All of us individually complained about the extremely bad smell of sewage as we entered our rooms. Some of us were given other rooms but the problem remained on the 2nd, 4th and 7th floors of the hotel. One of our party who is black had a housekeeper refuse to clean his room because of his colour - and this was confirmed by the floor manager. Another member of our party had a non functioning shower whilst another would be standing in the shower ankle deep in dirty water as the drains took forever to subside. An extremely disappointing experience. After a couple of days we negotiated the return of our deposit and move to the Tianrui Hotel which was a blissful experience by comparison. As for the Exhibition Centre Hotel... Never again!
