• Very comfortable with a few small problems

  Room was very comfortable with good beds, bathrooms, amenities and very nice staff (out of the ones that spoke English). However there were a few small problems I want to address:
  1. The Western Breakfast was, interesting to put it lightly. The sausages overcooked and tasteless, bacon soggy, juices, water and milk were room temperature. The Chinese Spring Rolls and Samosas were nice so I stayed around there and "Continental Corner" with really nice bread for toast, and a nice plain yogurt.
  2. The small cafe on the ground level was very expensive. 18 Yuan for a small bottle of water and 36 for a small Hot Chocolate. And lets not go into the food.
  3. IN my room, the Air Con did not work very well.
  Overall, 4 stars and I do recommend.

  When I walked into the lobby, it was filled with a bad smell, A smoking one to be exact. I was really excited to go to the pool there from the images I saw online. But you have to buy a swimsuit and cap if you have long hair???!!! Wow!
  In the dining hall (all you can eat), I found a bug in my cereal, but the staff handled it well by giving me a refund...
  The hotel cleaning service were very nice, they gave a vomit bag to one of my family members, who has travel sickness... Also they refilled my supplies of toiletries.
  The hotel overall looks really fancy and was well maintained.

  I was there a little over 2 weeks ago, however, I should have written this review upon check-out as this hotel just doesn't stand out in my mind. This is good. It means they did nothing wrong and that everything worked 100%, but, it also means that the hotel is good but not exceptional. I was only there 2 nights. Beijing was sandwiched in between Hong Kong and Shanghai. What I do remember is that the room was spacious enough (I was flying solo), and more importantly, it was clean and well furnished. Wifi in mainland China is a little different in that you have in-room wifi and you cannot access anything that is remotely related to Google, which sort of limits you, but the room was pleasant, the staff friendly and efficient and the location was great. Would I stay there again? Yes, if I had to, but if I ever find myself in Beijing again I might try find something a little more quirky or different.

  almost 5 stars but less because of smoke smell & u can hear the noise from the outside. the building itself is impressive, nice inside, room comfy except for the smoke smell. a block away from mall, food.

  We stayed at the Grand for 2 weeks and only have praise for the staff.
  The hotel is not brand spanking new and some of the paint on the woodword might be peeling but it has a cozy and warm atmosphere.
  Room service staff were attentive to our needs and rooms were always cleaned and tidied with fresh sheets.
  Getting transport i.e. taxis to the city was very easy. Hotel is also close to great local restaurants and amenities like banks, hospital, spa etc
