Great place to stay

Kusnacht, Switzerland | Oct 3, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesThe hotel is located on a very nice area without traffic close to an underground station. Welcome was very friendly. The room was huge and in a very contemporary style. Everything was clean and the minibar incl. beer was for free. They offer also l'Occitane products.
The breakfast is served at the roof top where you have a nice overview over the city. The swimmingpool is also located on the roof. Quality of the breakfast was good.
The only negative point is that taxis are not allowed to enter the area. You have to walk about 5 minutes. -

Jerusalem, Israel | Sep 21, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesThis hotel is small and located in a very good area, near the famous Tiananmen sq.
The whole area is secured and you can move free even at the evening.
All is comfortable. There is a perfect view from the roof. The food is very good, both local and European style.
The only problem is an absolutely white color of everything in the room: walls, tables, beds, etc. No decoration at all. If you like it, this place is for you. -
Style above comfort

London, United Kingdom | Sep 17, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyThe Emperor was opened about two years ago and its plain, "contemporary" décor is already starting to look more off-white or beige than white. It's all very well as a look when there is nothing in the room but when travellers and their paraphernalia are ensconced it all seems so cluttered and boring. Our party had two rooms which were a good size (especially compared to Japan whence we had come) but they were completely lacking in practicality. The shower/toilet had no door and there was a picture window into the bed area which was only three-quarters covered by a mirror. Couples sharing need to be completely at ease with each others bodily functions. This shower/toilet was not a wet room so EVERYTHING in the room got soaked when the shower was used (including the toilet and the wash stand) and nothing drained away. Very soon the clean white floor in the bedroom was also covered in dirt and puddles. The piece de resistance of design over practicality was the wash basin which had no plughole and therefore no plug. Water did not stay in the sink but drained away down the edges (why?). In winter the whole place would look and feel cold, especially the shower room with no door,
The Emperor has some very good things going for it: its location close to Qianmen Square, the Forbidden City and its very friendly staff. However it really must decide whether it is a hotel or a wedding venue: it's not big enough to be both. We arrived on Friday evening and the next day, after a hot session of sight-seeing, we tried to use the pool (which it boasts about in all its advertising). Unfortunately, like other contributors here, we found it was closed to guests because of a wedding function. The following day, also because of a function, breakfast was not served in the usual restaurant but in a much smaller room. When we arrived at 9 am there were no tables available. When we did sit down there was no coffee, no butter, no milk and no sugar: the staff were obviously too busy setting things up for the function in the restaurant which was to begin at 11 am. We complained about this to the duty manager who admitted that they had to make a decision over whether to give hotel guests or wedding guests priority. Guess who lost.
Overall this is not a "small, luxury hotel" which it claims to be. It clearly seemed like a good idea at the time but the designer should really have tried to include some comfort and practicality into his plans for the building which already seems in need of refurbishment. -

Interesting hotel (water culture), clean room, friendly service and convenient location. Close to main attractions, plus free use of bicycles, swimming pool and complimentary in room mini bar. Only downside is that there has no hangers in the room. -
Nice modern style hotel inside a traditional Chinese style building.

Sep 13, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayThe architect is contemporary with simple and comfortable rooms of pure white in color and stylish in decoration. The building is Beijing architecture of black bricks. It is quite a modern hotel with all essential functions.
From the rooftop bar and outdoor pool, a nice view of the Square is revealed with a clear vision of the two gates: Qianmem and Zhengyangmen of the south side of the Tiananmem Square.
Additional Information about The Emperor Hotel Qianmen
-
Pioneered in cultural and creative hotel in the capital themed "water", The Emperor Beijing Qianmen, close to commercial blocks and surrounded by a host of shops, is hidden in an exclusive quiet corner, well interpreting the “seclusive disposition”. The hotel is teemed with the unique "water" element that makes guests truly relaxed in the fashionable combination of static and dynamic water.
