Peaceful hotel in quiet hutong area
GLX1138
San Antonio, Texas | Aug 29, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesExcellent place to stay as hotel is well-placed near Xisi subway stop (Line 4), about 5 minute walk. Area is marked with signs to the hotel, so had no issues finding it at all. Rooms and property are good for short or longer stays. We stayed here twice, 4 nights each time. Staff were great.

Wonderful place to get a good rest

Joinville | Apr 25, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessWe were allready traveling around China for a few days and had not sleept well. So was the best two nights we had. Very quite and cosy room. Like other people said is not a 5 star hotel but you will really feel at home Ivy is just so sweet that is refreshing to get to this place after a very noise China. Please remember is a Hutong, very simple neighborhood but very friendly and safe. If you want something luxurious this is not the place. If you want to leave China as their people lieve this is the place. I highly recomend. Good wifi, air conditioner, good but very small bathroom. No frigobar.
Very close to underground, just across the road. -
Great start to our holidays - quiet and well placed

London, United Kingdom | Apr 20, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyA quiet and peaceful hutong guest house tucked into a maze of alleys, but very safe and convenient. Just a short stroll to the nearest subway. Owner was very welcoming and the room was as I expected, a little basic but super clean and perfectly adequate as spent most of time out and about. Lovely little courtyard where you can sit. Breakfast had two choices; sandwich with ham, cheese and fried egg, or noodles with egg - both perfectly ok and set us up for the day. Excellent restaurant near by recommended by the guest house owner, had one of our best meals in China! You really do feel staying in a hutong hotel that you are seeing a little bit of old Beijing, give it a go and you might be surprised.

A hidden cozy gem

Kuala Lumpur | Feb 4, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyPros:
I love the idea of transforming an actual house to a hotel. The room is spacious enough for two occupants. Coming from a humid country, I think the staff realize we somehow need extra warmth in the room. They gave an extra heater and blanket. At one point it got too hot in the room. The staff are friendly even though they speak limited english. Breakfast was also delicious they were limited choices but I love the noodle!
Cons:
This place is a little bit of walk to the nearest station but it has elevator and escalator so I give a point for that. There was also unpleasant smell from the bathroom but we just closed the door. All channels on tv were in chinese. -
A pool of serenity in a sea of chaos

Melbourne, Australia | Oct 29, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelI was travelling alone, mainly for business and then some sightseeing and I found this place to be just a really lovely place to come back to after a day of doing the usual tourist things. It is located just over the road or around the corner (depending upon which exit you use) from Xisi subway station. This is an older, more traditional area of Beijing, but only a nice stroll or 2 stations down the line, you'll find the modern shopping malls where all the bright young things were keeping up with the Western trends. There is also a really upmarket mall a little closer to Liuhe Courtyard.
All the staff were really helpful and all speak pretty good English. I shared a lovely impromptu traditional tea with the owner one afternoon, which was just beautiful. It was just a peaceful oasis and I enjoyed my 5 nights here.
Don't stay here if you want or expect it to be like staying at a modern 5 star hotel. It's not high rise (and I think that is a positive) and it doesn't have cable TV. In fact, you can only have about 30 channels of Chinese TV, but even that was OK. I could always find a show that provided enough visual clues of what was happening. Do stay here if you want a more traditional experience in a genuine hutong, in a really safe neighbourhood, with some more genuine Chinese experiences to be had, like the 'line dancing' happening every night over the road from the hutong.
There's a good range of food establishments around and the staff can provide a good lead on this.
Altogether, it's a 5 star experience.
