  On first sight you get the totally wrong impression about this hotel but there again it is Beijing & lots of things are different. From the street there is only a small sign to indicate that this is a hotel. It doesn't really get better until you see your bedroom. Ignore the old carpets & the rooms are quite good. The bathrooms very good. I had to change rooms during my stay (someone had requested 1st room after my 1st night) so I can vouch for two different rooms. Location is really good if you want to experience a real Beijing. Safe to walk anywhere & don't miss out on The Reef bar next door.

  Nice traditional style hotel located at Hutong and busy area of famous Nanluoguxiang. A lot of local souvenir shops and F&B outlets are located along the Nanluoguxiang.
  A hotel bar is located at the roof top of the hotel. Starbucks is just at the hotel lobby. Staff are friendly and able to guide you to the nearest hot spots.
  Tips - Please ask for the high floor which can be over looking the Nanluoguxiang. " 文字奶酪 " something like yogurt also located not far from the hotel.
  Nearest attraction - Drum and Bell Tower, "Bei Hai" lake and Gui Street.

  Great place, location and price! You'll never get bored in that area, there's quiet restuarants or cafe hideout, rowdy stalls, clubs and everything within walking distance.
  Only frustration is no laundry service and WIFI. However, within 3 mins walking distance, there's a nearby laundry shop. & starbuck is just at the lobby, WIFI either at the lobby or via hotel is stable.
  Staff are alright, just needs a little warming up, and they'll take good care of you. :) May it be direction to certain places, tips in China etc.
  side note:
  I've never like starbucks, but the starbucks experience here was the best I ever have! I'm a regular patron everyday during my 3 weeks stay :)

• Unbeatable location, newly decorated hotel

  This hotel could not possibly be better located. The main entrance is partway down Nanluoguxiang and surrounded by interesting shops and cafés, and at night hordes of street traders. It's a few minutes walk through the hutongs to the Drum and Bell tower and the beautiful lakes of Houhai. The metro is a ten minute walk in the other direction.
  We stayed in one of the cheapest rooms in the hotel - it was a little small but had a good bathroom and a comfy bed at prices comparable to private rooms in hostels. The rest of the hotel was very nicely decorated and consistent with the atmosphere of the surrounding streets.
  The free breakfast was enough for most people but not really luxurious - for what we had paid I think it was fine but probably not for some of the more high end rooms. The wifi worked perfectly for us all through the hotel. Having Starbucks in the lobby was a bit of a surprise, but it's not obtrusive and i like a morning latte.

  The location is great, unbeatable I would say. The style is nice, looks like they want to keep the Chinese style. Other than that, only bad news! Dirty rooms, with unbelievably dirty carpets! The breakfast is extremely poor and of bad quality. The staff is pretty rude, except for the guy who will carry your bags to your room. In conclusion, high rates for a poor service. NOT RECOMMENDED!
