Nice hotel (for China)
BusTravVie
Vienna, Austria | Sep 17, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyA nice hotel in Peking. Rooms are looking a bit "old fashion" which nicely fits to the "Opera theme" that the hotel aligns with.
Service is nice, breakfast is very ok (-especially for China if you allow that comment). -
decent hotel, limited food options, caters to large groups

Rochester, New York | Sep 2, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyI spent four nights here on a recent trip to Beijing with my daughter. It's not fancy, but it's a decent hotel in a good location. The rooms are large and clean with many modern amenities - mini fridge, in-room safe, flat screen TV, good air conditioning. The free wifi is fast and very reliable. They offer a large breakfast buffet with a good variety of western and Chinese items, but it can be extremely crowded with the large tour groups that often fill the hotel. Despite the large size of the dining room, we sometimes had difficulty finding a seat.
It's a short cab ride or about a 20-minute walk to Qianmen Pedestrian street and Dashilan shopping area; about 30 minutes walk to Tiananmen Square. It's also very close to many of Beijing's old hutong neighborhoods.
I'm not sure if the hotel has designated nonsmoking rooms, but there was a definite cigarette smell in the room. This may be fairly common in China because so many people smoke. The bed was pretty hard, which is also pretty typical in China. I actually found it quite comfortable, though, and got a good nights sleep.
My biggest complaint is about their limited dinner offerings. According to their website, there are supposed to be three restaurants - the Apollo Cafe serving western fare, the Langfang restaurant serving Sichuan and Shangdong cuisine as well as roast duck, and the Fugong restaurant with Hunan and Cantonese fare. The Apollo wasn't open at all the entire time we were there. And when I tried to make a reservation for the Langfang restaurant, I was told it is reserved only for tour groups. This left only the Fugong restaurant, which had a very limited menu. There are many restaurants on the streets nearby, but almost none offer English menus, so the lack of food offerings at the hotel could be a problem for anyone with little knowledge of the language. -
A Pleasant Visit!

Welwyn, United Kingdom | Aug 3, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesWe found this hotel had spacious and comfortable rooms with adequate facilities. It was located in a reasonably accessable district of Beijing with some shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. However on two occasions we tried to use the Lobby Bar for drinks and snacks and found many of the published items were not available due to stock shortages. A good breakfast was available!

Adequately mid-range

Jun 5, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessGood value in a good location of Beijing. Although quite dated in finishings, this hotel does have a nice, light lobby area, and an interesting garden & water feature running through the entire middle of the hotel, making for a nice relief from the city. Restaurants on-site are even more dated, and very over-priced, but staff are all very competent and efficient.

May 20, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesWe stayed here as part of an organised tour. I suspect that 95% of the people who stay here are in the same boat. It was better than I expected - the location is decent, the rooms are okay, the buffet breakfast is a bit of a scrum but there are a lot of food options. The neighbourhood nearby has a few shops and restaurants but just about every one we visited sold out of date products. The staff are mixed. We're 90% sure the cleaners helped themselves to some Nutella we had in our room - but we had also left money and jewellery out and it was untouched so who knows. Overall it's fine.
