Very good location if you visit Peking or Tsinghua University, or their "science parks"
Marie F
Nyon District, Switzerland | Aug 31, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThe hotel is mainly for Chinese people or for people who go to Tsinghua or Peking University.
The staff does not always speak fluent English and does not dare say no. Do not hesitate asking for the manager if you feel that there may be any misunderstanding at the front desk.
Take the small card with names of places to go to in Chinese characters, this is very helpful.
Breakfast is very good, both Western and Chinese. The Korean restaurant is also excellent.
It would be helfpul if the concierge could get better understanding of what foreign guests like as places to visit. The best place to see if you want to go for a walk is the Old Summer Palace = Yuanmingyuan (20 min by walk from the hotel, through Tsinghua Campus). Also, take a taxi (10 min) to the (New) Summer Palace. Both are restful after or before a busy day.
The taxi drive to/from the airport is 30 to 60 minutes. -
Nice hotel, good service!
SicceS
Helsinki, Finland | Aug 28, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThe hotel was clean and the lobby with space and light. The check-in was professional, and room service rapid, if something needed fixing. All the staff was friendly, although the servants at the cafe did not understand much English. But like always in Asia, smiling helps a lot. The room at the 8th floor was really nice and clean (well shower sometimes smelled a little, but the smell did not come further into bathroom). Ask for a smoke-free just in case. The breakfast, well, that is actually a great dinner...but you can find coffee and eggs as well. Allover rating is good and I can recommend it warmly, for instance, if visit science park and universities, but it is far from the centre, Summer palace is close, on the other hand.

Nice hotel but terrible service at reception
SEB2013UK
UK | Jun 10, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyWe stayed here for a week as a young family. The hotel locates conveniently for Tsinghua University but it's quite far out from central Beijing. It took us 40 mins ~ 1 hour taxi ride to Tian An Men area, during the peak time it could take more than an hour due to traffic. However, taxi doesn't cost much there, an hour is about RMB100 which is roughly £10. The surrounding area is nice and safe, there are a few good restaurants within walking distance.
The hotel itself was very good, room was spacious and clean, restaurants were very nice and child friendly. Breakfast was good. The only let down was the receptionists. For this, I rank it 3 out of 5. We arrived late at night and the first impression was that the receptionist was pretty rude and arrogant, felt like she didn't want us to be there. She gave no smile and clearly she didn't like her job. We thought that was OK, it was late, perhaps they chose a rude one for late shifts so that not many people would be dealt by her. For the following few days we went up to them twice for booking a taxi and tourist information, they were different receptionist from the first one but none of them were warm and helpful. We decided that it was really not worth it to ask them for help unless it's absolutely necessary. Sadly, to check out, we had to speak to them once more. It took nearly 20 minutes to watch another ice cold arrogant face to go through documents. In the end there was no smile, no thank you or good bye but 'you may go now', as we were released! I've marked down her name: Luo xiaoying. She was as bad as all others but the one we spent the longest to put up with.
One more added note: their wifi was so bad too. -
Horrible Service

Aug 8, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesArrived late due to travel delays, the front desk made us call travel agent to verify reservation. Trust me, if you want timely courteous help when you travel, avoid this hotel!!!
Did I mention it was midnight, they wouldn't even take the travel agents word, made them fax the reservation. Did I mention we had to call, and they used our phone to discuss the reservation?!! -
No redeeming qualities
worldlyCanada
Canada | Jul 12, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI guess the hotel rating system in China is unique. Maybe they base it on the quality of the lobby (which was, in fairness, quite nice). But for someone to have the audacity to list this hotel as a 5 star? I think not. Our experience was that this was barely a motel. From the outrageously rude staff at the front desk who challenged us when we tried to get our room-card re-programmed; to the lazy Club Floor attendant who, when we pointed out that we could not find a place to eat because all the tables in the lounge still had dirty dishes, brushed us off and told us to go and find the waiter; to the shower that chronically flooded our bathroom floor; to the breakfast-buffet room that had all the charm of a large garage, this hotel was so bad that we exited after one day.
