Everything was at our fingertips
David J
Lahti, Southern Finland, Finland | Sep 18, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesWhat a pleasant surprise to be in a tradition Hutong in Beijing and experience life with local families. The accommodations were simple but who needs that when you are visiting Beijing all day. The staff was friendly and spoke English. They helped us arrange bicycles to rent, tell us how to use the bus and answer any questions my wife and I had.
Our room was beautiful. It has period furniture as seen above and it opened to a small courtyard with a giant grape vine hanging a trellis above us. The bathroom worked very well but the shower door had been broken so water did get all over the place. Each room had its own air-conditioning unit which we ran all evening. The Wifi worked great an never cut off. I was able to watch MLB games on my Ipad and upload hi resolution photos to FaceBook.
The location was fantastic. Subway stations were within reasonable walking distance, bus stops were even closer. What made the location even better was the bicycles that we rented. The hotel staff took us to a bicycle rental "shop" and with a 500 Yuan deposit per bicycle we were able rent high quality bicycles which made sites like the bell and drum towers even more accessible.
Don't even worry about restaurants. There was too much selection to try them all and the food was great and of course reasonably priced.
Because we were in a neighborhood we felt really safe.Unlike a giant hotel where people come and go everyone knew who everyone was. We greeted locals playing checkers and mahjong every morning we left and every evening we returned.
Breakfast was very simple. Toast, jelly coffee or tea and watermelon. The inn provided cooled bottle water gratis.
Finally, because the Courtyard View Hotel is located within a Hutong noise from traffic was surpassingly diminished. Add to that tired tourists and we slept very well. -
Quiet good

Washington DC, District of Columbia | May 22, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesThe hotel is good, well located, but the staff is not Professional. Only one of them know english and I had problem with my room key smart card that they was not working correctly. After 3 times of going to the reception I had to show them my anger and I ask them to give me the other key room, that they didn't want to give me at first.

Home away from home just got sweeter (or hotter ;))

New Orleans, Louisiana | May 10, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelThis is a well-liked place for frequent visitors of Beijing.
It is truly a home away from home for those seeking a nostalgic experience. The place has just gotten sweeter (or shall I say hotter;)) as the owner recently opened a Chungking (Chongqing) style noodle place near the Andingmen metro station that is 5-10 minutes away by walking. This hole-in-a-place Szechuan spicy noodle shop offers delicious noodle dishes. The best part is that you get to eat there free for just being a hotel client (show your key). I am typically very weary of foods in China due to problem with restaurant usage of chemical ingredients, as I eat mostly organic foods in the US and have a "weak" stomach. But this place is worth going back over and over again. -
Living like the locals do..

Cagayan de Oro, Philippines | Mar 4, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesWe are backpackers or independent travelers. I had hard time communicating with most of the hotels and hostels in beijing. Yet courtyard view hotel is far the best. I booked thru booking.com without downpayment and with cancelation time up to two days prior to the check in date.but still they mr jerry (owner) help us with our train ticket booking and some of our request.and he speaks very good english (not common in beijing). I was using gmail in communicating,he did his very best to get thru to us even china's firewall is blocking google, facebook, yahoo, instagram and many more. Thank you jerry!we will be back soon,n we will stat at ur hotel.

Small hotel with great staff in interesting area of Beijing

Turku, Finland | Sep 21, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesWe stayed here for a week in September, and overall I'm pretty happy with our choice. The room was OK with well functioning air con, good shower (though the bathroom could do with a thorough scrub) and very comfortable bed. Also the Wifi worked great. The free laundry is absolutely great and very handy if staying for a longer time. We got the laundry back during the same day we asked them to take care of it!
The breakfast is quite poor, basically just toast, jam and coffee, but there were so many restaurants around that this wasn't really a problem.
The area is great, filled with GREAT restaurants, little shops, cafes, bars etc. Nanluogixiang is just ten minutes away and the subway stations were about 15 min walk away.
Staff was very helpful, they helped us greatly with buying train tickets to other part of China. Nice little hotel with a relaxed hostel/backpacker vibe.
