The shower was powerful, the bed was hard as a rock (common in china). I'd recommend it to others. The breakfast was kind of Blah, but most hotel breakfasts aren't great. I'd rather eat a Jian Bing anyway.

Nov 9, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI had to get another hotel than our standard Ramada hotel elsewhere in town. That was a blessing in disguise as this Holiday Inn Express Wangjing is very nice. The restaurant serves a nice breakfast with both Chinese and Western dishes. The rooms are comfortable, not too cold or warm and the beds are firm but not too hard.
If you're in town for business and want to be refreshed in the morning, this is a good choice.
Also nearby are enough restaurants and even a Pizza place (that I did not went to, but some of you may not resist temptation). -
Older property in an area with limited evening options

A/C in the room was barely functional and the bathroom was clearly patched in several spots. Bright spot was the breakfast area. Great space but food came out sporadically and was not ready for 30 minutes past opening time

We booked on line (with booking.com) - so we had a confirmed and full paid up booking. We telephoned the hotel less than 24 hours before we intended to arrive to confirm that they had our booking and to let them know that we would be arriving early hours of the morning. Everything was as set as you would expect. We arrived at the hotel and they didn't have our booking and they didn't have room to accommodate us all. I don't know what more we could have done to ensure we had somewhere to sleep when we arrived. The hotel was a reasonably nice hotel - representing good value for money. I was not at all pleased with the service we received from staff though - little in the way of compassion re: our situation and little help to find a workable solution for us - regardless of the reasonable grasp of the English Language. Expect to pay equivalent of £10 for a taxi too and from the airport and £6 to Tain Men Square. PLEASE beware - getting back at rush hour by Taxi is only possible if you are lucky enough to find somebody who is prepared to sit in traffic for hours (we were quoted £30). We ended up taking the tube following advice from a local Police Officer. The tube service in Bejiing is crowded but pretty good and REALLY cheap!
