• Clean and comfortable stay

  We stayed 4 nights during their October holidays (1-7) Beijing is very crowded and pack this week . It's our first time staying this part of Beijing . Hotel is clean and comfortable. It was no problem getting extra pillows unlike some Chinese hotel we stayed in which just say no . Bed was big and we were fine with the firmness. I did not use their facilities so cannot comment on it . Air condition could be a problem as we find that there was no airflow. They were responsive but notting much can be done.
  We find public transport good ie not too far from the hotel..... Bus 5 goes all the way to the city and passes by the hutong and for Houhai area get off in Gulou stop. There are a lot of buses that goes to other area of Beijing in Deshengmen main bus stop which is only 2 stops away . Taxi is not a problem as there were a few waiting in the front when we were there . Beijing South Railway station is quite a distance away . Cost about 45 Rmb. Ask if there is extra calling charge if the hotel call a cab for you .

  Stayed here for three days recently, rooms ok, bed comfortable and bathrooms ok as well. Breakfasts are good and bar was good for a night cap. Gym was small but machines all ok. Reasonably convenient for my work which was also good. Will stay again. Only gripe was the inevitable stale smell of cigarette smoke which pervades everything and the a/c which blew air but wasn't really cold. Fortunately the weather wasn't too hot.

  I have used this excellent hotel many times before and found the 16th floor executive facility to be good value for money
  On a 3 night visit this week, I have had a room where the air con failed and a room that attracts insects.
  So I leave with itchy bites.

• Good hotel if you need to be in the north Beijing area.

  My girlfriend and I stayed for 10 days in this Holiday Inn in July 2014. It was very convenient to her father's hospital but otherwise is not convenient to tourist attraction, the subway, etc. The porter always could find a taxi for our excursions. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The service was good and the staff spoke acceptable English. The spa is independent and the massage was expensive and so-so.
  The a/c in our original room did not work well, and the management gladly changed us to an upgraded room on the executive floor at no additional charge (we asked in Chinese).
  The hotel gladly held a big suitcase for two weeks while we we toured the country; no charge.

  It's my first stay in this Holiday Inn, quiet, staff are nice and helpful, location is good.
  Everything is nice, except the taste of breakfast was poor. The taste was really bad, and coffee was bad too.
