Good business hotel near center of city
rickys971
Minster, Ohio | Nov 14, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI spent 3 days in this hotel to meet various business partners. The room was nice and staff is friendly. The bar is not so active, but it was OK. The lunch buffet was expensive 389RMB, but included steak, lobster, and all the beer you can hold.

Great Experience, Very Educational (?)
Megabruno1994
Fredericton, Canada | Nov 14, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI have to say, that I was not impressed with the hotel even before I checked in. A little mistake by the doorman pretty much ruined my first day in Beijing after a long flight from Amsterdam. Although, that aside, it turned out to be a lovely stay in the end, and to me, the drama was definitely a lesson well learned.
This happened back in July - I arrived in PEK more than an hour ahead of schedule and as a result, my prearranged ride was not there. Exhausted and jet lagged I was eager to hit the bed, so I decided to grab a taxi. When I arrived at the hotel a bellman was very proactive and offered to help me with my bags, and I happily agreed as I was way too tired to worry about my bags. It turned out that I should. I arrived upstairs at the front desk and when I was reaching for my passport, I realized the bellman left the duty-free bag with my passport in the taxi. Now, I agree it was not a good idea to shove an important briefcase with my passport, pilot license, ipad and work permit in a plastic duty-free bag, and it was an even worse idea to not pay attention to the taxi‘s plate number, company name or even color, but I have to say, without prejudice, that the bellman could have done better, and that the cameras in the front car port could have been upgraded. This whole drama cost me ~600cny out of pocket just for transportation and to compensate the poor cab driver who made his way across the city just to give my stuff back to me, and a whole day of relaxation I could have enjoyed. The concierge manager on duty apologized profusely, yet I still blame myself more than anyone else, so I did not ask for any compensations.
The hotel itself was great, although older, it does have all the amenities you can ask for plus a great view. Summer was particularly helpful in getting me into an upgraded room in the morning hours and allowed me to get into my room and unpack first without my passport, and Chuck was trying his absolute best to help me recover the items.
All things considered, my stay was good - and the drama was more educational than annoying. Mistakes do happen, I walked away with a lesson well learned, I hope the hotel learned their share of the lesson as well.Marcom_BJSBC, Director of Sales at Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel, responded to this reviewDear Megabruno1994,

Excellent hotel, threat room, love the bathroom!
Bryce S
New Hope, Pennsylvania | Nov 10, 2025We spent three nights at the Renaissance Capital Hotel in Beijing last week.
The hotel has a great location in the Central Business District. It's beautiful. The rooms are large. Our bathroom had a glass wall overlooking the rest of the room. There's an automatic blind for privacy.
The bed was comfortable. The TV has more channels in English than most of the other hotels we have stayed at on this trip.
The gym deserves special mention. It's on the top floor of the building. The panoramic views of the city are amazing. The gym has free weights, machines and cardio equipment. It also has a coffee (and possibly juice) bar on the gym floor.
The Executive lounge is excellent. It takes up most of the 24th floor. It has three little three sided rooms, side by side. Inside each are a sofa, two seats and a table. The breakfast spread is one of the best I've seen. This includes Salmon Benedict and fruit cubes display in hollowed out melons. The staff does a great job keeping glasses filled and looking after guests.
Here's one of the unique features about Renaissance in general and the Beijing Capital Hotel in particular. Most hotels have staff in assigned roles. Here, almost everyone wears a name tag marked "Navigator." Whether in the lounge, lobby or front desk, if you ask someone a question they help you out. We've met the front desk manager, executive lounge manager, hotel manager and concierge staff. They are all navigators.
Are there negatives? Beijing has it's equivalent of Uber. By and large, they are beautifully maintained black cars. When you need to get somewhere, the concierge desk will most likely get you one of these cars instead of a taxi. From our experience, these black cars cost twice what a taxi charges. You can request a regular taxi if you choose. That's what we started to do towards the end of the trip.Marcom_BJSBC, Director of Sales at Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel, responded to this reviewDear Bryce,
