• Good place to stay

  My family had a trip to Beijing last 2 month and we had a chance to stay at Someset Zhongguancun, it was a impressive experience for me about the service and how they treat me there, very clever staff that could assist customer and make us feel like at home. I really appreciate that time

  Pros:
  -Great location if you want to be near the tech area of Beijing.
  -Front desk staff was very nice as well as the third floor clubhouse staff.
  -Gym has decent equipment and space.
  -Wifi is good
  -Our room was quiet and overlooked a small garden.
  Cons:
  -Breakfast is limited. Boiled eggs, rice porridge, sausages, fried rice, salad, cereals, fruits, yogurt, toast, coffee, tea. If you want scrambled eggs or an omelette, you'll have to order that with the busy kitchen staff.
  -Cleanliness in the room is my biggest pet peeve. The sofa and carpet looks very used and dirty. The kitchen utensils and cups still look dirty (I see lip lines all over my cups) and I had to give everything I used a good rinse before using it. The hood over the stove is still very greasy and some of the handles on the drawers are sticky (probably from grease?).
  -We had a rollaway bed in our room and I had the (dis)pleasure of sleeping on it. It's basically a wooden board with a thin mattress. I guess I'm used to sleeping on a thin mattress that goes on a spring whenever I sleep on rollaway beds. Rollaway was 204 RMB and that includes an extra breakfast with the room (extra breakfasts are 60 RMB).
  -The bathroom sink counter looks like it only had a cursory wipe down...

• Nice but difficult to find

  I stayed here for a few days this month. The facilities are very nice. Rooms are very well equipped, modern, clean. The breakfast buffet in the morning was great. The indoor swimming pool was really nice.
  I had a couple of issues though:
  1. It was very difficult to locate for taxi drivers. As a non-Chinese speaker, I printed out the instructions from the website that were available in Chinese but not a single taxi driver that I provided them to could make sense of them. In fact one taxi driver kicked me out of his cab as he gave up trying to find it! I did request some kind of map from hotel reception that I could use to help instruct taxi drivers, but they didn't have any available.
  2. It wasn't clear at first that the swimming pool (on the 3rd floor) was not accessible using the same elevator system as the apartments/rooms. I feel this should have been explained at check-in.
  3. When I went to the pool, each time, there was never anyone at reception (for the gym/pool). The problem here was that I believe they are the people the supply the towels for the pool and without someone there, each time I went to use the pool, it was without a towel. I never brought one from my room as I always assumed there would be someone there at the reception desk but there never was. Normally by the time I had finished up my swim, there would be someone stationed there but by that time it was too late. It would be good if towels were accessible whether or not someone was manning the desk.
  All in all though, it was a very nice stay. I would probably stay again, although would still be concerned about taxi drivers being able to locate it!

• Very good family experience

  Located in Haidian, so a 45 Yuan taxi ride to Tiananmen square, but worth the travel for a family. Hard to find good hotels with separate bedrooms for families larger than 3 people in Beijing. This place has large apartments with full kitchen and truly separate bedrooms and several toilets. It's modern, stylish and clean. The hotel has an indoor swimmingpool, a gym, pool table and table tennis, play room etc. Breakfast buffet has a good variety of food and service is good. I would go back!

• Frozen and got sick

  I stayed in this place during corporate assignment early this year.
  The room's heating system is extremely dated and is so called central AC (definitely not up to par for 4-star). It seems that its heating capability is not as good as the usual pipes used in regular apartments. Individuals in the room cannot adjust the temperature at all despite a thermostat in the room. The room was at < 20 Celsius.
  One day the heating went broken and I was frozen in the night while I was asleep. It was a Friday and the issue was not fixed until next Mon/Tuesday. I caught a cold due to that. It took me a long time to recover in that cold time of Beijing. The front desk said they suffered from the same thing and they had to take out electric heaters!
  They offered an electric heater to me afterwards but still the room wasnt warm. I moved to Crown Plaza next door and had no problem with their room at all (their thermostat seemed working and i was able to adjust the temperature to 20 or 21).
  Wifi is a joke as well. Constantly the connection is dropped and the speed is horrible.
