Great Authentic Hotel
casfamily69
Singapore | Apr 20, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayThe hotel is not far from the subway stations. I love the relaxing atmosphere that I able to chat and lay on the sofa at the courtyard.
Rooms are clean, no issue of sharing hot water.
There are many nice local eateries, cafe, etc along the way. -

Mumbai | Mar 18, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayCitycourtyard hotel is good with daily housekeeping.
Rooms are small but very neat, clean and well maintained.
Hotel is 15 mins walking from subway station.
It's a little difficult to find in the first place as located in a small lane.
Wifi is complimentary in the room. -
Heck of a place - once I found it

Gloucester, Mass | Dec 12, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelAll the previous reviews hit it pretty much right on the mark. I am just confirming
that the staff are very friendly and helpful, but that it is a real pain to find the place. I would recommend to take a taxi or subway to Andingmen subway station, and then take an electric rickshaw (or moto-cher) the rest of the way. It's located in a fascinating neighborhood. I was able to walk to Lama Temple, Confucius Temple, Drum Tower, and Bei Hai Park. I would stay there again. The wi-fi connection worked really well. I stayed 3 days in early Oct. 2013. -
Dirty room and rude staff
Juliaaurora
Lund, Sweden | Aug 22, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesWhen we arrived the woman at the desk was really rude and angry with me cause it had been something wrong with my booking, so it turned out I booked two rooms. I had just got one confirmation, but saw that my bank had charged it twice. So I asked her what to do about it, and she was just angry and said I must have known that I booked two rooms if the bank charged it twice and didn't listen to that I just got one confirmation. Also I had been on a flight so it wasn't much I could have done. After she had said to us like a hundred times that she can't give us the money and that we must contact hotels.com or whatever, it was at least not HER problem. Also I sent an email to ask about the directions in chinese and they never answered.
When we got the room, I booked what was called "one double bed", it was a single bed but we could stay two. Only thing was that it was the really really hard beds (not a bed just a thin matress on wood) that I've been reading the single beds are. But since it was the same, I wasn't very happy about that either. Then we looked under the matress and the sheets and it was FULL of cotton buds (some looked used), anyway they were definitely not supposed to be there. The whole bed area was a bit disgusting.
So the negative things:
- Really unfriendly and unhelpful staff (not the guy though, he was kind)
- You had to pay for a map
- WIFI worked so bad it was more or less impossible to use
- Dirty
- Taxi drivers have difficult to find the place or don't want to drive there at all. You NEED the diirections in chinese.
Positive:
- Nice bathroom
Well it is a hutong, which is nice, but it's definitely NOT a 3 star accomodation, don't know how the 3 stars got there. It hostel standard, but without a nice atmosphere.
