Nice, but no English :(
Arezo85
Oslo, Norway | Oct 4, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyThe hotel is clean and has a high standard. One of the biggest problems is that none of the staff speak English. It makes everything so difficult. You would think at least one person could speak English when it's a hotel like this. Wouldn't come back.

Lovely hotel, near main city centre sights.

Liverpool, UK | May 27, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesHotel was set in a complex with nice garden and security lodge on arrival. Our room was huge with plenty of space for suitcase. Bed was very comfy. Bathroom was a good size with separate shower and bath. There is a good size pool free for use by guests (there was a hydro pool/area too but you had to pay extra for this). Concierge was very helpful, ordering a taxi for us for the airport. Bar was good and relaxing. Hotel is near Tian'anmen square (about a 10 minute walk) and the Temple of Heaven (about a 15 minute walk) and close to two metro stations.
Minor complaints: the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner in the hard to reach places and there did seem to have been a leak near the pool. I think it would have been nice to have more of a welcome - staff saying hello and being more visible in the lobby area.
Overall, a lovely hotel and would stay there again. -
Pleasant Surprise!

Hong Kong, China | May 26, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI wasn’t sure what to make of this hotel, but after reading Tripadvisor reviews, I decided to make a reservation and I was pleasantly surprised.
The hotel is in a pretty central location, but it’s a bit hidden down a narrow road with mostly unappealing construction and other things going on. The hotel is also not that great looking from the outside, but things improve quite a bit once you are inside. The lobby is quite nice, and the room was huge- maybe 50-60 square meters. Overall, quite well designed and taken care of. Not very common in Chinese hotels, which seem to show signs of wear very quickly. Wifi is also fast and easy. No logins or passwords and seems to cover the entire hotel property (which is big).
Overall, the hotel is a good value. The front desk showed rack rates of 2000rmb and up, but booking on a third-party website is just ¼ of that. Also, English is a bit of a struggle, for a lot of the staff, but nothing unusual for China.
A few quirks, but I was glad to stay at the Kingrand in Beijing! -
Nice property, but not well maintained
Vincef69
Feb 13, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayThe rooms and lobby are beautiful - I'm guessing it was built for executives at the Olympics. Very lush accommodations.
However, it's not maintained as it should be - there were many little things not working properly, the most annoying of which was the shower in everyone's room. The showers were beautiful stone-lined stalls with a rainfall showerhead as well as a euro-style handheld spray. The rainfall showerhead just spits water sideways - totally unusable. Our group took up about 20 rooms, and none of them worked satisfactorily. What's so hard about replacing these?
English is a bit of an issue with the employees, but a handly translator app on my phone fixed that pretty easily. It would still be better if they had some employees who really spoke more than a few words of English, or had some of us spoken better Chinese. :)
It was inexpensive for the room, however. It was a very nice room. (See photos posted here - they are accurate).
The restaurant was merely OK. It's buffet-style for breakfast (we ate other meals elsewhere), and not everything looked fresh. There were some items that looked like they had sat out the day before (scallions and cilantro for the dim sum, for example), so one should be careful what you select.
Check-out took longer than expected, as I was charged for a breakfast even though it was included in my room rate - that happens, but the language issue made this take far longer than necessary.
The WIFI was barely usable, but present. It seemed to come and go, as if it would fail and they would reset the system now and again. It was often painfully slow.
The neighborhood leaves a lot to be desired - dirty and slum-like, but it's proximity to sights like the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square is wonderful - just a couple blocks away via a shopping district.
The heat in my room was a problem - they have automatic thermostat that turns off every time you leave the room, and as I had an outside-facing room, it got cold quickly every time I left the room. It was set to keep the room at 17C. Brr. The people in courtyard-facing rooms had a better experience. -
A stay definitely fit for a king!

Jan 19, 2026 | Trip type: Friends getawayBest and most luxurious hotel I've ever been to! Only wish we stayed more than one night. Got this hotel for cheaper than original price due to agoda points. Indeed very very welcoming and comfortable. Tastefully designed with service befitting royalty. Wide variety of choices for the buffet breakfast.
A stay definitely fit for a king!
