Chinese Business Hotel
C0nstantlyOnTheG0
Newcastle, Australia | Apr 27, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyWe were hosted at this hotel with a group of young fashion designers by Hempel, for China Fashion Week. It's not a hotel that would have been on our radar and from the reviews we weren't expecting too much. It's predominantly a Chinese Business Hotel and although a couple of the staff try to speak English, communication can be a problem.
The foyer, restaurant and function areas were all presentable and adequate for the hotel. The hotel rooms were not expensive, however the beds were hard and this seems to be the major complaint from westerners in their reviews. The pillows were a bit ordinary too, but the rack rate wasn't 5 star either.....so you get what you pay for.
We had four nights at the hotel and found the location to be excellent. It's situated in the embassy area and is historically important, as it's where the Cultural Revolution marched through in 1949, when the embassies were being overthrown. It is a 5 minute walk to Wangfujang Street, the subway, Tianimen Square and The Forbidden City.
The against .......Yes the rooms are dated. The bathrooms aren't perfect. The beds are hard and the pillows thin. The for ......... if you are on a budget and want a great location, breakfast included, basic English at reception, obliging staff ......the hotel will suffice. -
Old, tranquil and nothing special
BuiDucHanh
Hanoi, Ha Noi, Vietnam | Nov 4, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyThe hotel is little bit old and locates in a dark area. Even some online booking rates this hotel at 4* but it should be 3* only.
Access to city center from hotel is quite close and easy. Breakfast is normal. -
Great Location - Chinese Style Hotel
LeeC1010
Sussex, UK | Jan 16, 2026 | Trip type: FamilyLocation
This is the best part of this hotel, its close to most of the major attractions in Beijing. We didnt have to use public transport at all and walked to all the attractions (Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Qianmen Street, Wangfujing).
Price
I paid an average of £72 per night, which I thought was quite expensive for China. But actually I think thats a good price for Beijing and the location of the hotel. I should also point out that my room was an Executive room so was slightly more than a Standard room rate.
Cleanliness
The hotel and rooms are clean. The only thing is that the carpets in the rooms are just filthy. I'm not sure if hoovers are used or not but I found a huge clump of long black hair matted into the carpet. As I like to walk around barefoot I decided to pick it all out and put it in the bin. Yuck! The bathroom and the rest of the room was fine though and the bed linen was clean, so it wasnt a huge deal really. Remember that this was an Executive room.
Staff
You'll find that English isnt as widely spoken as you'd expect, but saying that all of the staff still spoke English - although sometimes with a strong accent. Its our fault for not learning Chinese, but it was really good that we could speak to people easily. The staff were all very friendly and I want to point out Susan who was our waitress in the hotel restaurant. Susan was friendly and helped us out with explaining all of the dishes on the menu.
Facilities
I think the hotel has conference rooms upstairs, but we didnt use any. It also has a restaurant and a small car park out the front.
Atmosphere
The atmosphere that I picked up via the staff, facilities and decoration, was that this hotel is mainly used by Chinese people and that is who it is really targeted at. Although it was fine to stay in and we enjoyed it, the hotel isnt really targeted at westerners. But this was just my opinion and didnt affect my trip at all.
Rooms
I stayed in an Executive room and it was very nicely decorated. You could say that it was a little outdated, but you can see that it is presented as a luxury room. My parents stayed in a Standard room and the difference was quite big. They had wallpaper peeling off the wall and a smell coming from the sewage in the bathroom. The room just looked so much more basic and smelled of smoke more than my room. They also had a dirty carpet the same as I did. I want to point out though, that the bed linen was always clean and the bathroom was cleaned each day too. It seems that everyone smokes in Beijing, so I'm not sure you can totally get away from the smell of smoke in the hotel rooms. The Executive room didnt smell too much and didnt affect my experience.
Overall Experience
My lasting memories are good ones and I would stay at the hotel again. I actually wouldnt, but thats only because I'd like to see other hotels and stay in a different location next time. But I would recommend this hotel to my friends. -
Awfully Old... A Complete run down property
Manish_Sirnani
Kalyan, India | Nov 9, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyA complete run down hotel... Nasty old carpets which smell rotten.. Furnishing & decor which hasn't been changed for decades. No one at concierge can speak English. The only saving grace for us was a floor manager called Ivy who could empathize with our complaints & did her best to address the issue. Location is good, but not worth staying with your family.

Awfully old... great for non planned pregnancy
Marcelo L
Miami, Florida | Apr 24, 2025 | Trip type: Business3 words to describe this old carpet, nasty bathroom, and falling apart furniture... old, nasty, old. Like many Chinese hotels they provide condoms next to the toothpaste... but with a little twist the condoms were expired 2 years ago... so you better watch out... because is coming to town...
