Good location and quiet place to stay

Brisbane, Australia | Dec 26, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyDays Inn Hotel - Forbidden City is at a very good location. Short walk to Forbidden City, Wangfujing Pedestrian Street and large shopping malls, near Street food market. Near subway station and bus stops. But still in a good quiet side street. Well secured.
Reception very friendly and helpful. Rooms are good size. We stayed in a family room and later in a double room. Yes, rooms could do with a spring clean.
Will happily stay there again. -
Good cheap budget hotel

Reading, United Kingdom | Sep 15, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesYou really couldn't ask for more from a budget hotel. Make sure you look on comparison sites as we got our for £35 a night not £90 like TripAdvisor is saying. Our room was big enough for two, a/c was a bit loud and made rattling noises. Shower had black marks where water has built up (just like many of ours at home! So you really cannot complain! And it is not mould like some reviews have said!).
The receptionists were all fab and every eager to help in translations, making money into smaller donations, getting taxis etc.
Our locker battery went during our stay and we mentioned it and it was sorted there and then.
The room was cleaned every day and very well done.
The location was brilliant, right in the middle of where you would want to go.
I really recommend the Wangfujing food street just round the corner and the Lui Li Chang streets; a lot more culture and decent food stalls and shops. And of course all the big tourist attractions - if your a student worth taking your ID with you ;)
Brilliant hotel - thank you for our stay. -
Great location - everything else, eh.

Mesa, Arizona | Oct 15, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesI selected this hotel because of its proximity to the Forbidden City - I did not want to mess around with the public transportation system in Beijing, and had heard that Westerners have a hard time getting picked up in taxis (a fact that was proven by the dozen or so taxis that stopped, saw we were Westerners, and drove away laughing or grimacing).
From a location standpoint, you can't beat it if you purpose is to visit the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square, as it was ours. It was a quick ten minute walk, and we were in the heart of the Square. The rest of our trip was set aside for the Great Wall - the hotel offers tours, but we had already hired a private driver, so I can't comment on those except to say that they appear to be available.
The Front Desk staff speak very little English. There is one woman who seems to have the best mastery of English who we happened to work with the first day, but if she was not around, it was very difficult to communicate. I asked for their assistance in ordering pizza delivery for us one night and it turned into a rather big party, as it took five of us to get it figured out. Thankfully, it worked! :)
The room itself is very dated, and the bathroom was very underwhelming. Very few towels, no soap, and the towels were so old they barely dried your skin anymore. The TV was set up on some sort of system where you could only select certain channels and certain movies, but when you clicked on a movie to watch it, a different movie came up.
Also, our hotel room had nice big windows, but when you opened up the blinds - our room overlooked the balcony of someone's private home. And those folks loved sitting outside all day! So, we had to keep the blinds closed at all times.
Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. -
Just so so

Shanghai | Oct 3, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyThe hotel advantage is the location. Besides it is just very average standard hotel. We stayed with the family and rented three rooms by Ctrip. Rate was at 110 usd a night which is on the higher side and you would hope for better standard. Room carpets were dirty and stained. One of the rooms we stayed in has moldy and moth ball like odor. We were given rooms on 2nd floor facing a shack where empty beer bottles were stored. I would recommend to ask for higher floor rooms. We travelled during major Chinese national so we appreciated the location and the fact that we could easily walk to some of the key landmarks of Beijing down town.
Forbidden city and Tiananmen Square are just around the corner. So is the subway stop. Wangfujing walking street is nearby and temple of heaven a bit longer walk away.
To sum it up good location but substandard quality of the rooms. I would not stay there again if in Beijing.
