Outdated but a nice lobby and wooden beds
ArtisticIdea
Shanghai | Sep 21, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayNice location, nice lobby, but dirty carpet with cigarette burns and dirt stains. Needs updating. The reception was nice and quick enough. Most of the other budget hotels in this area are really dirty or in a really dirty area (think abandoned building and musty and mildew smells). This one is at least in a cleaner area with mostly clean rooms.
Thin walls, you can hear your neighbors if they are the least bit excited. -
Nice place

Elliot Lake, Canada | Aug 8, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyEnjoyed our stay. Room wasn't ready upon arrival but didn't take long. Bed was comfy; staff was helpful; breakfast was good. Centrally located, great shopping only a few steps away. Clean and safe. Great wifi.

Great hotel in a great location

Sudbury, Canada | Aug 3, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyDon't let first impressions be a lasting impression! Our driver couldn't make it down the lane way so we dragged our luggage a few minutes. We arrived 5 hrs later than planned and our room still wasn't available. We were off to a rocky start but that soon changed. After a nap, shower and a meal everything seemed to turn for the better. The hotel is located in a cool area with lots to see and do. No shortage of vibrant life, shopping opportunities and local treats. We enjoyed our time here.

Unusual hotel with beautiful furnishings and pleasant staff

Liverpool, United Kingdom | Jul 18, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThis is a great location for a hotel, close to the a number of areas of interest but not at all noisy. It's a great opportunity to stay in a traditional hutong, and the furniture in the rooms is stunning: genuine antiques and a privilege to enjoy. My room was spacious and airy, with a seriously comfortable canopy bed, and the bathroom was clean and modern. The staff couldn't have been more pleasant or more accommodating, and extremely patient with my poor Chinese and bad sign language: I even received a personal escort to the nearest police station when I needed to report a stolen wallet (pickpocketed in the street, nowhere near the hotel - a tip is that in China, you are expected to go to the nearest station to where the incident occurred: my wallet was taken the other side of the city, and only discovered on the taxi ride home - this caused issues, but the hotel kindly assisted me with the police, and ensured I received the necessary documentation for my insurance).
I slept brilliantly here, and the hotel is exceedingly good value for money to boot - I will definitely stay here if I am ever in Beijing again, and have recommended it already to colleagues. -
Quiet.

Old Lyme, Connecticut | Jul 9, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyEscape the heat and noise of the busy Hutong and walk through a long courtyard covered with vines and red lanterns. A couple of more turns, each taking you deeper into the coolness of stones, and away from the noise. Nicely decorated, friendly staff, good breakfast with mixture of Chineese and western foods. Room was quite clean and nicely put together, and although our carpet had some stains it was well vacuumed. My husband marveled at quality of work. Once you step back and walk back through the shady courtyards you are very very close to explore the traditional Hutong area.
