Good Value + near Forbidden City + eateries
Cammal_BrownBoy
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia | Oct 20, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayWe stayed here for 4 nights in September. We took a taxi from the airport and paid about 400 yuan. Check in was smooth. The room we got was on 3rd floor. The room was clean and smell fresh. Basic coffee and tea facility. Soft drinks in fridge was free for consumption during our stay. The bedlinen was clean too. The toilet is a decent size but seems slippery. They do provide bath slippers which I didn’t use during my stay. The hotel could improve by fixing a shower curtain as the shower water tends to splash to the other part of the toilet. They do provide toiletries, hair dryer and towels. The housekeeping does a decent job in making up the room everyday. The front office staffs were helpful. There are a few of them who could speak English so that was helpful, especially a staff named ‘Winters’. There is a convenient store just next to the hotel. The are a lot of eateries opposite the hotel which is convenient. We didn’t try out the hotel breakfast so no comment on that.

A nice hotel marred by timing
tinareid17
Jersey, United Kingdom | Oct 7, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesUnfortunately we were here during the military rehearsals for the 70th anniversary celebration. This meant that, whilst this was a pleasant hotel in a good location, we didn’t enjoy being confined to it after 6pm on a Saturday night to watch the tanks roll past the hotel window. We were also unable to go to the Great Wall as we would not have arrived back before the curfew.

Location top`s it all!

Stuttgart, Germany | Sep 29, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessBeijing on the biz it was. According to the map it seems the main city center attractions are in walking distance during my very limited free time. So it was and also one of these western fast food chains was in walking distance, no need to negotiate with the taxi drivers. Arrived at PEK airport in the early morning, it´s absolutely necessary to have you´re hotel details written in Chinese letters to show it to the taxi drivers. They do not talk in English and can´t read western style. Expect roundabout 100.00 Yuan and do not accept any driver without a meter running.
Early at the hotel and early Check-In was ok, a real plus here. Step out of the hotel to the left there are just a good couple of meters to go for Tiananmen and the historic area around, to the right is more non-touristic and also a good number of restaurants. Room was spacious, also the bathroom, glass only between room and bathroom and it was clean for the first view, but not really everywhere when you go en detail. Everything from the fridge was free with my rate, one more plus here. Slept well, some noise from other hotel guests was to notice, but nothing really bad. No hotel breakfast according to my schedule for the next day, really nice staff during Check-Out also, later on back at Capital airport, taxameter cab only, roundabout the same fare. All in a recommendable place to stay with my intentions. -

Markham, Canada | Sep 23, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesThe hotel is in a good location with great restaurants on same street and nearby.
We had breakfast included in price, the breakfast was a good blend of western and Asian food.
There is a smoking room right in main lobby which is heavily used by the smokers.
The rooms are supposed to be smoke free but from elevator and hallway you could notice smoke smell.
The rooms are a bit crowded and our view was over a court yard with rooms under neath where people sat out and smoked. Not possible to open windows.
The bathroom was large enough but tended to not be as clean as it could be. Shower area had mold on tiles grout.
They do leave shower slippers since shower floors r slippery but they r old and have been used by many. Don’t recommend using them.
Hotel is close to most walking areas and shopping

Additional Information about Kapok Hotel Beijing
-
Hotel Kapok in Beijing is a uniquely designed boutique hotel located in the heart of this ancient Chinese city. A modern looking boutique hotel crafted with a touch of Chinese influence, next to the Forbidden City in Beijing. The lantern, a traditional icon in China, is used as a concept of exterior design, which breaks the boundaries between inner space and outdoor environment. An unconventional layout presents a spacious area; the ample use of glass enhances the natural light and the bamboo courtyard in the lobby slows the pac e of urban life. Hotel Kapok consists of 89 guestrooms and 16 suites, appointed with small gardens on the balcony. The interior design focuses on simplicity and pureness: white is all-pervading in the room, wooden floors and glass built bathrooms liberates the traveler's body and soul. The "Staircase Library" certainly increases the joy of reading. Hotel Kapok delivers personalized services while providing conveniences such as restaurants, bars, meeting rooms, business and fitness center.Hotel Kapok is located in the heart of Beijing , on the east side of the Forbidden City, minutes away from the famous shopping district Wangfujing. Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven, Beijing Train Station is also close by.
