Budget hotel for the short stay, if you have no other choice
Jelena T
Belgrade, null, Serbia | Dec 27, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyThe location is a bit weird, very close to the local hutong, so may look a bit scary and dark at night. Not too far from the main pedestrian street in Beijing, it takes 15-20 minutes walk. The hotel is worn out and really very basic - the furniture is old, bathroom utilities a bit rusty, towels old and worn out - but we were so exhausted that we fell asleep immediately, ignoring the rust and the molds. The carpet was not vacuumed while we were there, I know, because I spilled something and it remained there for 3 days, untouched. There is a coffee maker in the room, I see this as a big plus. Breakfast was very much Chinese, with just a few European options. Fried eggs were served cold, and sometimes sprinkled with sugar. The orange juice is pure chemistry, so don't even try it - just take the milk, or coffee. The view from the restaurant terrace is precious - I recommend enjoying your morning coffee there. No ATM at the hotel, exchange your currency somewhere else! There are two supermarkets nearby, one of them working 24/7, if you need anything.

Short stay in Beijing
Johnofford808
Sheffield,UK | Nov 27, 2025Not the best place in the world.
On the plus side, location is ok but breakfast is below average and the rooms are very basic (like going back to the 1970s).
The hotel feels really dated and it reminded me of staying in a youth hostel when dining in their breakfast hall. The shower in our room was full of mould too. -
King Park View Hotel Ok. Close to Forbidden City exit
pbroboy
Adelaide | Oct 28, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyWe arrived tired from an all day flight from Australia. A warm friendly welcome would have been nice. There was a hitch with our booking. We'd booked one room for three people. How we got two rooms ? who Knows but after a fair bit of puzzled looks and "Too hard" attitude (English not good, but HEY we are in their country), we settled down in quite a good room. Double bed upstairs, portable bed (Brought in) downstairs. All areas of our accommodation were clean, room serviced daily. No complaints regarding cleanliness. Fridge, TV, and electric Jug. I think there was coffee and sugar. We take our own. The hotel is easy to miss set back of Shatan Hou street. Once we were over our cold reception on arrival we were quite happy with the place. Not The Ritz, but not the price you'd pay for The Ritz. We got to love the area, eating to the right Down The Alley. at a warm friendly restaurant English spoken. Less than five minutes from the exit gate of The Forbidden City. One minute from Jingshan park a great place to relax if you get there early. Nice park at any time. Climb to the hilltop temple for a great sunset view of The Forbidden City. As I said this hotel aint the Ritz. A little tired, yes, but once past the chilly reception, I would have no problems staying there again. Other staff were warmer, . Word of warning when arriving. The hotel is set back in a side street cul-de-sac sort of place. go on line to see a map and photo of the hotel from Shatan Hou Street. Taxis may well drive past it.

Ok, But Dont have High Expectations.
Tracey G
South Durras, Australia | Oct 10, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayStayed as part of Intrepid Tour. I found most staff here quite friendly and helpful and some spoke adequate English. Rooms were fine for a budget hotel. Location was good, though some times a problem for pickups/dropoffs as streets are narrow and often blocked by traffic, so we sometimes got dropped off on main road...a few minutes walk back to the hotel. Not a problem. Didn't try the breakfast. There was some street food outside hotel which another guest told me was great for breakfast e.g. steamed pork buns. Note there is a deposit of CNY100 at check in, which is refunded at check out...not sure of the point of this. Make sure you keep the receipt from check in or there may be a problem with the refund. Wi-Fi was o.k. Dont forget to download VPN before arriving in China to access gmail, Facebook etc. We did have one problem when we went to roof top to sit for a while (great view), and the doors were locked when we went to go back to our room which was about 4pm. Luckily I had my phone and reception phone number with me. Took 3 calls to explain predicament, but we were rescued in the end and did not have to spend the night on the roof. Otherwise we had great stay....perhaps don't have high expectations.

Great location, good place for budget travellers
Al_Peter
St.-Petersburg | Nov 9, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyThis hotel was booked by our travel agent according to our request of a budget place in the center of Beijing for good sleep and recreation after the active sightseeing. It was really so. The hotel is in the quiet place on the edge of the old center of Beijing (Houtons) in the 5 minute walk from the Emperor's palace.
Though the furniture in our room was a little bit shabby, the room was clean, well served and with all the necessary equipment including fan, teapot with cups, spoons etc, hairdryer, TV, electric sockets for various kinds of plugs,
bottled water and tea bags for free and so on. There were many young foreign tourist in the hotel at this time and therefore it was noisy in the corridors in the evenings, but there was no noise from outside the hotel.
The only disappointment was breakfast. The choice of the breakfast dishes was poor: only one kind of sausage, no cheese, few vegetables and fruites. Most dishes were chineese. But quite enough not to stay hungry.
The breakfast room is on the top floor and one should walk over the roof to get into it. The view over the emperor's park and palace from the roof is great. There is no restaurant in the hotel so the visitor should look for a dinner somewhere else. But it was not a problem, because there was plenty of cafes and restaurants of chineese cuisine on the street just round the corner of the hotel. And they have no closing time but work until the last visitor leaves.
At the daytime the street becomes the marketplace for foodstuff, consumer goods, chineese specialities and so on. So a tourist may watch the daily life of common chineese people right from his window or participate.
